Around December, when we were in Mildura, the Jacaranda trees (purple) were in full flower, and the gardens in the streets were looking lovely. I've many fond memories of all the beautiful Jacaranda trees.

Inland Botanical Gardens
Quite an extensive botanical gardens, with several large rose gardens, but for the most part, native plants and trees and walking trails. The rockery plant area near the rose garden is a good place to see native birds feeding on nectar in the mornings.
Mungo National Park
"Mungo - desert and significant Aboriginal history"

What is most important about the Aboriginal history of Mungo is that it is the site of evidence of the world's oldest cremation, that of Mungo man (around 30,000 years) and of Mungo Woman.
I was so surprised to see the desert like a carpet of flowers in spring - all this after just a couple of weeks with some rain.
The previous time we had visited Mungo, there was little but red earth to be seen, and very little vegetation.
