Glen Isla House: A special hotel on Phillip Island
We found this on the web and we were looking for something spcial for a weekend getaway. There's a choice of rooms and a self-cater cottage. We opted for the Anderson Suite which is a heritage cottage (it really is old!) and its done-out in beautiful period furniture. A gas log-fire and a spa bath make this the best room at Glen Isla.
Very private gardens and the beach is just out the back gate.
Ian and Madleine are the owners, and they make you feel very welcome. Breakfast is really good, because Ian is a passionate chef, and he uses only the best ingredients (try the scrambled egss).
If you like wine, they have a really big wine cellar with a lot of Australian wines and they are licensed so you can buy some wine and sit in one of the corners of the beautiful gardens to enjoy your wine.
The tariff includes breakfast. There's some good restaurants in Cowes which is about 20 minutes walk for dinner in the evening. Sometimes (if there are enough people staying), Ian does dinner. You need to ask in advance to see if he is cooking when you stay.
They have a lovable Staffie called Nancy - she loves people and makes everyone feel welcome too!
We would recommend this hotel and we will be going back again for another stay.
Unique Quality: Special gardens - they are very old (late 1800's) and its near the beach - about 100 meters to walk from the gate. When you are inside the grounds - its very private.
The breakfasts are something else, and the owners make you feel very at home without intruding on your privacy.
The accommodation is very elegant has been very thoughtfully done. No clutter in our room and no doylies in sight either.
This is a 5 star property - and we can see why!

COTTAGES FOR TWO: ROMANTIC COUPLES ACCOMMODATION
"Cottages For Two" provides luxury self-contained freestanding cottages for couples only. Car parking is undercover.
David and Helen greet you on arrival and then quietly disappear.
The 6 cottages are set amongst a gorgeous garden and are very private.
If you brought food with you, there would be no need to venture outside until it was time to leave. Everything is there for you to enjoy a romantic or relaxing weekend.
In case it's cold there is a gas log fire, or if hot there's a reverse cycle airconditioner and ceiling fan.
Of course there is a TV along with a DVD player and CD player. So bring your fav movies or music and settle in.
If you really feel like cooking there is a stove, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and utensils & crockery. Or maybe you would prefer to cook on the BBQ and eat outside in your private courtyard.
A washing machine and dryer are also there, hidden away in a cupboard.
And last but by no means least there is a two person spa!!! Even has lots of bubble bath waiting for you : )
Everything is scrupulously clean. My only complaint was the pillow...way too soft for me. I should have taken my own!!!

various: B & B's, cottages, rented houses
For our music & Grand prix weekend at Phillip Island, we hired a house between the 7 of us and it worked out rather cheaply.
We even had a nice view of the ocean from the balcony and kitchen, which was unexpected, since we hadn't booked that far in advance and the whole island must have been almost booked right out.
The island may be small, but there are 2 main towns, and an Information Centre only a few kms into the Island once you go over the bridge from the 'mainland'
Unique Quality: The views of the ocean were great, especially since it was the first fine spring weekend we'd had in many weeks.
