Slip - Slop - Slap
by gaizee
You should bring with you, a hat or umbrella to shade off the sun, suitable cotton clothing to wear during the beautiful warm sunny days and suncreen to wipe over your arms and other exposed areas. A cool long sleeved cotton or light linen shirt want go astray, especially if you intend to spend the day out on the water as you will end up very sunburnt without protection.
Walkabout...

... Broome, its safe and some of the gardens are illuminated at night. Just after the sun has set and the camel beach tours are finished for the day you may even see little red lights high up above the footpath... curious? It's the camel trains walking home on the footpath. They wear little red blinking lights on their saddle blankets so you can see them. Yes, its so dark in Broome at night you can't see a camel! :o)
Sunrise over the mangroves.... you are not alone!

As previously mentioned, you get a great view of the sunrise from the sand dunes to the East of the town - you can also get close of some beautiful birds of prey which come swooping really low over head. In fact they are a good height above the ground but as the dunes are so high they fly just a couple of metres above.
I saw 5 of them together when I was there in 2001 and they seemed pretty fearless if you were sitting still.
Photography on Cable Beach

I definitely recommend taking your telephoto lens to the beach with you, if you are interested in photography. A pod of dolphins were jumping in the waves close to shore on my first day in Broome - without my telephoto lens they might as well have been a kilometre away.
Every evening we hoped to see the dolphins again, but we ended up disappointed.
Seeing these beautiful animals and their wonderful acrobatics was definitely the highlight of my stay in Broome.
Buddha's Sanctuary
by Purpleshade
Buddha's sanctuary made a lasting impression on me.
It is a beautiful well tended garden containing an awesome 3 metre tall statue of Buddha intricatly carved from a solid block of crystal. The statue stands in an eight-sided gazebo, surrounded by a mandala of great chunks of raw crystals of Amythest, Topaz and Quartz.
Another gazebo has Buddist artifacts on display and there is a
monk talking to those interested in listening.
There is a wonderful, tranquil feeling in the place.
Don't forget to take your shoes off before you go in.
A perect place for meditation.
Open 7:00-10:00 and 16:00-19:00
No photo sorry-it didn't feel right to even ask if it was O.K.
