The Pool was great
The hotel is in need of a major refurb, and we were told, that it was about to happen. The Mecure, is one of the oldest hotels in Broome and the locals call it the Conti. We arrived about 8pm from Perth tired only to be told that they didn't have our booking, which only distressed us, as we had rang twice the week before to confirm and up-grade our booking. We were impressed by how quickly they solved the problem, offering us a complimentary drink, while we waited for a room to be prepared, a bottle of fine wine placed in our room with their compliments and the free up-grade to a pool side room.
At the Mecure, they have a nice Irish Bar called Murphy's which we enjoyed on a couple of occasions for lunch and dinner. If you are a gambling man a TAB is also located right next door to Murphy's Irish Bar.
The very friendly staff offered good service which I believed compensated for condition of the facilities and rooms.
Unique Quality: The pool area is tropical and relaxing. All the rooms have air-con which is a necessity in Broome as the temperatures are high all the time.
We found the local bus service in Broome very efficent, and the Mecure had a bus stop right out the front, the bus's stopped every 1/2 hour and the drivers pointed out, local points of interest while driving.
