We are coming over to fremantle for the blues and roots festival, 18th april. Is this a sit down event? do we need to bring our own chairs and if so what type?
Some folk festivals we have been to limit seating to those low beach chairs.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
You are not allowed to bring anything into the festival. No chairs and rugs allowed this is the rule for all music festivals in Perth.
Look on the Sunset Events website for anything you need to know, they are the Blues and Roots promoter!

There are so many nice little shops in Fremantle,just stroll around and you will be amazed at what you can find.
Some countries see buskers as beggars. But I ascribe to a saying I read on the internet, "Sometimes the best musicians are those whom you find on the street".
I gave $2 to a busker who was performing along the Fremantle Market. Was he playing good music? Nope. Was his singing good? Can't understand him one bit. So why give him any money at all?
Well, he was a foreigner in Australia. I had a chat with the busker and found out that his name is Yoshi and he's from Japan. I'd also found out that he has been travelling around Australia for two months and will then head back to Japan. He had also been performing on the east coast of Australia.
He can speak a smutter of English but good enough to communicate.
For all his bravery to face the people of Australia, I believe he deserved every bit of my $2.
If you have a child on tow, you might like to look for places that they can run themselves silly. There is one park that is the closest to Cicerellos called The Esplanade.
There is a playground and also, something what we call a "spider web" where kids can use ropes to climb all the way to the top. This was also the place that we laid down our mats and had our fish and chips. Lovely!
a good sized bag to take with you down to the beach - big enough for your beach towel, swim wear and a couple of books! Bring trousers and jumpers with you in case the weather isnt that good. We went in October and i wasnt expecting it to be that windy and cold and silly me only took one pair of trousers so i had to buy some! However, there were lots of clothing shops around in Freo so if you do need anything, there is a huge choice of where to go! You will need suncream, even if the sun isnt shining all the time! I managed to get burnt!
Fremantle definitely has a big sailing attraction. Aside from the Fremantle yacht club, there is also the East Fremantle Yacht Club. This facility is also for the non-boating patrons who just enjoy the bar and dining experience. They will also cater for private functions and weddings. Included in the club is a modern gym and sauna. If you are boating though, you can hire boat storage, pens and moorings. There is a slipway and a boat launching ramp and petrol and diesel are available 24 hrs.
