Abrolhos Island Tours

by CAPPereira

We are a family of four looking for the most economical method of viewing these islands and would appreciate any feedback on this. A day tour would be just fine!
Thanks,
CP

From what I can see most of the boat charters are for four-five days or you can fly there for one day.
Check out this website

They do one day tours which seems the cheapest option.
Hope this helps

Travel Tips for Geraldton

Kite and Wind Surfing

by keeweechic

The best place for wind and kitesurfing is at Port Moore. This is a really popular place because of the wind – the windiest spot in Geraldton. Even some go as far to say the windiest place in the world. The beach is right opposite the lighthouse. St George’s Beach or if you want to go further, Coronation Beach which is 25kms north of Geraldton.

Kojarena

by keeweechic

Between Bringo Lookout and Mullewa is Kojarena where there is an Australian Defence Satellite Communications station. Here they intercept communications from other countries satellites such as India, China, Japan, Pakistan and Russia. The station was opened in 1993.

Wall of Remembrance

by keeweechic

As you walk up the path to the memorial you will come to concave walls. On these granite walls are panels with the names engraved of all the crew of the HMAS Sydney who died. There are also old photos of the ship and crew.

The Stele

by keeweechic

Standing on the edge of the plateau is this huge 19m high Stele. This stainless steel structure is symbolic of a grave marker and was designed to stand for the forward part of the HMAS Sydney known as the prow.

Dedication Stone

by keeweechic

There is a dedication stone at the memorial which is to represent the commitment by various organisations to the HMAS Sydney National Memorial. These included the City Council, the Rotary Club, Coast Maritime Heritage Assn and the RSL Branch.
