Bay Lodge: Good hostel in Denham

by bijo69

The Bay Lodge hostel is a nice place to stay, just across the street from the sea. It was a former motel, so you still have a fridge and a tv in your dormitory :). There are six beds (bunks) to a room which doesn't leave a lot of space though. All rooms have aircon and ensuite bathroom.
There's a daily free shuttle bus to Monkey Mia to see the dolphins, additionally the managers organizes all kinds of other activities. Should you be lazy, there's a small pool on the premises aswell.

Kimberley Klub: Party hostel in Broome

by bijo69

The Kimberley Klub is a good hostel if you're looking for a bit of party in Broome. The licensed bar next to the fantastic pool is very busy until 11pm.
Rooms are of average size, I stayed in a 6-bed one with fan and small individuel lockers.
Bathrooms and kitchen are reasonably clean and there are laundry facilities on the premises.
There are nice hammocks around the pool area, but the music from the bar was usually too loud to relax (at least for me).
There's a huge difference in prices between rainy and dry season. I was there when they changed and some prices increased by 20-30%.

Blue Reef Backpackers: New place in Exmouth

by bijo69

Blue Reef Backpackers is part of a caravan park at the entrance to Exmouth. It's quite new and everything is in very good condition. The 4-bed cabins are very basic with aircon being the only extra item.
Bathrooms and kitchen are spotless clean and there are lots of washing machines and tumble dryers.
The swimmingpool is quite large and in a shady garden.
Quite a bit wildlife is found in the park, emus are walking around and I had a brown snake under the bench in front of my cabin.

Ningaloo Club: Good hostel in Coral Bay

by bijo69

The Ningaloo Club is a purpose-built hostel with different kinds of rooms. I stayed in a 10-bed dorm which was quite large, had individuel lockers and aircon.
Bathrooms and kitchens got cleaned twice per day which is a good thing in a tropical environment.
There's a small pool and the hostel has a licensed bar which is open until 11pm.
Staff is friendly and efficient.

Albany' Bayview Backpackers YHA: Where's the view?

by bijo69

The hostel is a very nice old building from the late 19th century, but it doesn't really have views.
Rooms and common areas are ok, although they seem a bit neglected. And they could be cleaner aswell.
Staff is very friendly and there's a free barbecue once a week.

Blue Wren Travellers Rest YHA: Small place in Denmark

by bijo69

The Blue Wren hostel is a small cosy place in Denmark. Rooms are clean and spacey, but the common areas could do with a bit more cleaning.
You might be woken up by chickens, which live under the house :).

Tip Photo
Walpole Lodge: Home away from home

by bijo69

The Walpole Lodge is a wonderful place mainly thanks to the very friendly hosts. They do everything to make you feel like a real guest, not only a paying one. E.g., they drove people to the Treetop Walk for free, got freshly baked scones and homemade jam, etc...
All the rooms are comfy and clean, so are the common areas.
Unfortunately this place was for sale when I stayed here and I hope the new owners will be as hospitable!

Pemberton Backpackers: Not the best

by bijo69

Again, this is the only hostel in town and again it's no good. I ended up staying in one of the cottages in a very crowded 6-bed dorm with no space for my small backpack. There were 3 more rooms in the cottages, but only one toilet and one bathroom, both not in the best shape. Apart from that there wasn't hot water for both days I stayed there. The kitchen was quite dirty aswell.
The main building didn't look any better... I really can't recommend staying here.

Tip Photo
Baywatch Manor: Great hostel in Augusta

by bijo69

This is one of the nicest hostels I've stayed in Western Australia. Rooms are large, clean and even have some nice details, like a bedside table & lamp etc.
All common areas are spotless clean and the TV rooms has very comfy sofas.
A perfect place to relax!

Tip Photo
Dunsborough Beachouse YHA: Great beach location

by bijo69

This nice hostel is directly on the beach of Geographe Bay, about 2km from Dunsborough.
The best thing is its huge back garden with hammocks, table tennis and lots of space with beach access.
Rooms are basic, but clean and spacey. The kitchen, lounges and bathrooms are all ok.
You can rent bikes and surfboards.
