Busselton Backpackers: The only hostel in Busselton

by bijo69

Unfortunately this is the only hostel in Busselton. The place is in desperate need of a major repair... My room was still somewhat ok, but everything else (bathrooms, kitchen etc) were falling apart and dirty on top. The backyard which could have been really nice resembles a junk-yard. And for all this you'll pay a higher price than in much nicer hostels in the Southwest.
Avoid it if you can!

Dolphin Retreat YHA: Friendly hostel in Bunbury

by bijo69

Dolphin Retreat is a very friendly hostel close to the centre and the beaches. Rooms come in different sizes, I stayed in a 4-bed dorm which was large enough and had a fan.
Staff is very friendly and helpful.
The lounge has a TV and computers aswell as comfy sofas. The only thing which wasn't too good was the kitchen. Not the cleanest place, but as I don't really like cooking it doesn't matter too much to me.

The Emperor's Crown: Nice Hostel in Perth

by bijo69

The Emperor's Crown is a very comfortable and clean hostel not far from CBD.
The rooms are quite large and the beds are comfy. The hostel has a nice longe area with computers, a well-equipped kitchen and laundry facilities.

Definitely would stay here again!

YHA: Hostel in Perth

by bijo69

The YHA in Perth is a rather big ans soul-less place to stay. It's more or less clean and all the rooms have aircon.
Unfortunately you've got the rail tracks right behind the building, so bring earplugs!
There are very comfortable lounges on each floor and a big kitchen on the 1st floor. You also find quite a few computers on the 1st floor should you miss your dose of VT.
If you're too lazy to cook, there's a café in the building which is open for breakfast & lunch.

Palace Hotel Southern Cross

by keeweechic

The old two storey restored hotel sits at the corner of Antares St and the Gt Eastern Hwy and is listed as a 3 star rating. Rooms are relatively cheap with those which have ensuites attached being slightly more. There are also rooms with a spa. Meals are available. The current owner collect coins and has the biggest history coin collections in Australia with examples covering 109 countries. There are also various significant and historic medals including the Victoria Cross.

Railway Motel/Hotel Mullewa

by keeweechic

The Railway Hotel is an old two storey building as you are entering the town from Geraldton. They offer rooms and pub style meals which are reasonably priced.

There is a history to the old pub. In 1985 there was problem when a local Aborigine refused to leave the hotel and was attacked by the then publican Brian Williamson. Victor, the Aborigine died and Williamson was charged with assault. This however did not appease the local Aboriginal community and they set about to do over $50,000 worth of damage to the hotel.

Best Western Hospitality Inn Kalgoorlie

by keeweechic

The Best Western is comfortable enough motel and each room contains a queen and a single bed. There are tea/coffee making facilities with a mini bar, air-conditioning/heating, alarm clock and hairdryer and all rooms are non-smoking. One child under 12yrs can stay free. Internet facilities are via a data point using modem facilities or there is fast speed internet access in the bar. There is a restaurant also for breakfast and dinner.

The motel was fine until the last morning when it was raining fairly heavily and a lot of rain came into the room by an obvious leak in the roof. By the time we checked out the carpet was squelching and anything that had been lying on the floor was wet. When I advised the manager the response I got was ‘sorry about that. That will be $2.10 for the phone call’. While I realise these things happen, a little more sincerity in the apology and maybe a gesture and forgetting the $2.10 for the inconvenience might have gone a long way to us ever returning there to stay again.

Northampton Motor Hotel

by keeweechic

Formerly known as the Commercial Motor Hotel. It was originally a single storey building but when it was purchased in 1911 by Jack Woodcock, a second storey was added. Motel units were added at the rear of the hotel.

Tip Photo
All Seasons Geraldton

by keeweechic

The motel has 60 units all with TV with in-house movies, tea/coffee making facilities, fridge, hairdryer, ironing board and iron, aircon and ensuite. The rooms were comfortable enough but you had to keep the bathroom door closed as it got noisy. The advertise internet in the rooms but this comes at quite a high cost. All the rooms are non-smoking.
