MURCHISON RIVER CARAVAN PARK: GOOD LOCATION
The Murchison River Caravan Park is located in the centre of Kalbarri and within walking distance of most things in town. It's described as having "sweeping views over the Murchison River and Indian Ocean," perhaps for the few that are located at the front of the park, but for the rest, NO views. If you want one of these riverfront sites, then it is best to ask for one when booking.
We arrived here with our Caravan in tow and no booking, didn't even think of booking as Kabarri is over 600kms from Perth. It turns out, Kalbarri is very popular in the Winter months as it has a warm climate, so people from Perth and further south come to Kalbarri for the warmth. We were very lucky there was a cancellation about 10mins before we arrived, so I was given a site, the last available one!
DO BOOK IF COMING TO KALBARRI.
We were taken to a new section right at the very back of the Caravan Park and squeezed in-between some Caravans. We were told by our permanent neighbour next door, they were squeezing two into an area where usually only one Caravan was!
There weren't enough rubbish buns in this area nor clothes lines, although there 2 Amenity blocks. I did like the Amenities, the first we had struck like this. These were new and consisted of all private bathrooms with showers and toilets, plenty of room in each. When you had finished, you just attached a clip so the door stayed open and people knew it was vacant! This was a great idea!
The older part of the park looked quite nice and some of the sites had their own picnic table & benches. The park had a childrens playground, campers kitchen and FREE bbq's, FREE internet access, fish cleaning table and Dogs were allowed out of school holiday times.
It is a TOP TOURIST PARK, which means if your a member, you get 10% discount off any type of accommodation up to the value of $30 per stay at a park.
The park does have a range of Cabins to suit everybody's budget.

Sun River Chalets: Not family friendly
I'm talking nearly five years ago at the time of writing when I stayed here but at the time I did not think it was a very family oriented accommodation.
The self contained chalets were spacious and well equipped sure enough, but the resort itself seemed more like a retirement village than a fun filled family resort.
It was a comfortable place to stay and as we were out and about most days it was not a major problem. But it served it's purpose for the family and the kids enjoyed the swimming pool.
