Fishing

by keeweechic

Popular fishing spots in Mandurah are the landings under the traffic bridges but there are various places through the Estuary where you can just throw a line out. With the inlet opening into the Indian Ocean there are always consistent fish catches.

Toll Cottage

by keeweechic

This style of cottage was mainly found on the turnpike roads in the 18th and 19th centuries. Their purpose was to collect tolls from passing traffic which was then used for maintenance and repair of the roads. This particular cottage was built in 1897 and is from Beeding in Sussex on the road through Old Shoreham to Sheep Fold. It was in use until 1885 when the road ceased from being a turnpike and was one of the last remaining Toll Cottages at that time.

Birthplace of William Shakespear

by keeweechic

William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in this house and spent his early years here. Timber for the cottage came from the forest of Arden and the stone was from the village of Wilcote. Originally the house was part of a continuous frontage of houses and shops.
