    Apartments Close to Margaret River

These apartments are good value, reasonably priced and just a 5 minute walk into the main street of Margaret River.

I got a good deal through my Credit Union the FSU but you can also get a good deal through With you can pay when you get there so no worries about up front payments.

The apartments are clean and the reception desk staff are very helpful. The complex has a pool and childrens playground. Forte Leewin Apartments are also located close to The Knights Inn and Indian Restaurant next door at the Margaret River Resort.

Sorry, no pix.... because we were having too much fun :o) Please check out the link below.

Travel Tips for Margaret River

Good service is a rarity

by trixee

While a lot of the food in Margaret River is good, the service can be rather appalling. As sophisticated as the town is, it's still above all a country town, and service is generally slow. Just go with it, though, it's not all that bad.

Wise Winery

by keeweechic

Wise Winery is north of Margaret River inbetween Dunsborough and Yallingup. This winery was started in 1991 when both the Eagle Bay Estate and Geographe Estate were combined. The winery sits with a 180 degree view overlooking the vineyard, the Meelup Valley and Geographe Bay. Their wines have won numerous awards over the years Australia wide and all are available for tasting.

Brewing up a Storm

by arianne_1504 about Colonial Brewing Company

A relatively small brewery and restaurant about 6km along Osmington Road, just before you get to the Margaret River townsite. We were heading out to Bootleg Brewery, however having forgotten to fill up the fuel tank and fearing being unable to make our return trip home, we opted for the closer Colonial Brewing Company.

We were starving and headed straight for the menus. Most of us had the Beer Battered Fish and Chips, craving the oil after far too much revelry the night before. The fish was local and was the nicest fillet of fish that I’d ever encountered wrapped in batter – a really nice thick fillet not your average throw away piece destined for batter coverage. It was accompanied by a fresh garden salad, homemade tartare sauce and frites (chips). The remainder of our group ordered the Steak Sanga and commented it was the best consumed in a long time. The cheese inside was peppered and the onions were in a rich sauce, the steak tender. This was also accompanied by beer battered chips. All were impressed with the beers as well.

Despite the small size of the venue, I would prefer this brewery over Bootleg which tends to get very crowded. There is a children’s playground to keep the young one’s entertained and make sure you check out the Clydesdale Horses, which can also be seen in the main street of Margaret River on occasion.

There are beer tastings and brewery tours available – of course! And you can either fire up the bbq or bring a picnic lunch if you’d prefer not to dine in the restaurant.

Oh and the other great thing about this brewery, is the free bus service that runs between 10am and 6pm every half hour, from the Margaret River Tourist Centre.

Located at the entrance to Lake Cave is a very interesting and informative display called Caveworks and is ideal for those with a mobility disability who would otherwise be unable to enter and enjoy the caves - Jewel, Lake and Mammoth. There are over 300 steps and some are slippery with the ever constant dripping of water. Visitors need to walk almost crab like in some of the walk ways underground whilst avoiding overhanging limestone formations. Jewel Cave has an atmosphere that some visitors may find distressing.

Entry to Caveworks is included in the entry price to the caves, but can also be accessed by payment of a $5 entry fee and has re-creations of some of the beauty to be found underground. There is also interpretive display panels on the history - indigenous and early European settlement as well as information on some of the caves found in other parts of Australia and overseas too. There is a kids experience of caving exploration tunnel and some caving memorabilia.

Suggest a visit of one hour and also there is a gift shop and cafe as well as ample parking and visitors toilets.
