Margaret River farm

by aussirose

Margaret River was very much a farming place and you still see farms with cows, sheep and venison but these days, more farms are being converted into wineries and Colin at Stellar Ridge wines told us that there's a new winery being opened up every day in Margaret River, which of course is good news us wine lovers as the price of wine will no doubt be coming down ,...but bad news for the farmers. Anyway this fella wanted to be on vt, so who was I to argue lol.

Laurance

by keeweechic

Laurance offers casual dining from 11.00am and includes a menu for children as well. Wines that they offer are Rose, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot and what they term ‘Just a Sweetie’ (from late harvested Semillon grapes) and the ‘Icon Cabernet’. The bottles are even quite different shapes and they have some wonderful gift packages. The cellar door is open from 10.00am – 5.00pm daily. The Laurance property is also available for weddings.

In the Dark - The Caves

by Jenelle7

There are a number of caves in and around Margaret River, and they are definately worth a look. You pay entry and with that you receive a hard hat, a map and a torch, and then you are left to explore on your own.
The caves a massive, and you could stay there for hours marvelling at what nature can create. Stay to the path though, or you may find that your feet get a little wet.
Try turning your torch off and stand there in the complete darkness (and when I say complete, I mean complete) and silence. It is quite scary.

Wine Tasting: Gralyn Estate

by trixee

Gralyn Estate is one of the few wineries that don't have distributors in Perth. Therefore if you go to Margaret River, be sure to buy some bottles of their wines, as they are truly superior to many of the other wines in the region, and at a similar price. (However, you can also order the wines from their website). I found the wine steward to be somewhat surly, generally not as friendly as the other ones we'd met, but maybe he was just having an off day...
