Travel Tips for Margaret River

Don't forget...

by robertgaz

A small back pack for personal items. Hat & waterproof jacket because the weather can change on you very quickly. Insect repellent, first aid kit & toilet paper. Don't forget the camera with spare film or an extra memory card. Carry 2 litres per person per day.

Stay on established paths.

Use only fuel stoves at bush campsites.

Where there are no toilets, bury toilet waste more than 150mm deep and at least 100m from any water supply.

Clean, crush and carry out all rubbish.

Respect private property by not straying onto land adjacent to the National Park.

Be courteous to other track users and be prepared to assist if required.
Enjoy the wildflowers but don't pick them.

Report any damage to the Department of Conservation and Land Management (CALM), Busselton Office.

Cape to Cape Walk Track

by robertgaz

The Cape to Cape Walk Track follows the spectacular South West coastline from Cape Naturaliste at the northern end to Cape Leeuwin at the southern end.

At approximately 20km's per day this is a 7 day walk following miles and miles of ever changing coastal scenery.

Nice 'n' natural

by TheWanderingCamel about Wild Thyme

Wild Thyme caters well to both Margaret River's smart-set foodies and the whole food brigade with its mix of healthy eats and sophisticated flavours. Organic, vegatarian and gluten free are all features of the menu here, both to eat-in and take away but it's all served up with lots of panache and some neat and thoughtful touches - picnic rug hire to go with your basket of gourmet goodies is a good example.

Everything is both locally sourced wherever possible and freshly prepared and cooked on the premises.

Open from 7.30-3.30 weekdays, 8 -3.30 Saturdays and (during school holidays only) Sundays Excellent coffee, fresh juices and yummy paninis stuffed with fresh salads, roasted vegetables, tasty cheeses and the like hit the spot perfectly for lunch and no trip to Margaret River id complete without one indulgent breakfast of Wild Thyme's blueberry pancakes - absolutely delicious!

Visit Wineries 2

by Kate-Me

The second winery we visited was Voyager Estate, which is well known in the area for its architecture, as well as its wine.
The winery cellar door and gift shop building was built in Cape Dutch (South African) architectural style.
It also has very symmetrical European style gardens leading up to the building, which I really enjoyed.

Foodie heaven

by TheWanderingCamel

A visit to the Margaret River region isn't only a treat for wine lovers. The area is renowned for its great produce and restaurants. Chocolate, cheese, olives, preserves, fudge, berries, bushtucker, marron (fresh water crayfish) and farm produce are just some of the goodies available.

Chocolate lovers won't want to miss the Margaret River Chocolate Company - free samples always available! Their dark chocolate coated ginger is addictive!

If beer is more to your taste than wine, don't miss the Bootleg brewery or the award-wining Colonial Brewery

If you're in town on market day, look out for great fresh vegetables, organic produce, delicious cheeses, artisan-baked bread - who needs a restaurant when you can make up a fantastic fresh picnic?
