The worst part about the hotel experience was waking up to find a dead mouse beside the bed. I don’t know if it died of natural causes or it was accidentally trod on during the night. We left it for the hotel staff but there was never any apology or comment made following a letter I wrote to the main office of Best Western who certainly won’t be my choice in the future.

Flakey Internet

The bathroom was basic with a bench and sink that double for your dishes. We requested internet but after several attempts we couldn’t get it to work (which ended up being due to their server problems) and finally was reimbursed the fee we had paid. A nuisance as this facility was one of the reasons we picked the hotel.

A Bit Noisy

The room had a sizeable bed, reasonably comfortable with a small table (too small to be eating a dinner off), a couple of chairs and a TV. An hard to open ranch slider opened out on to a small deck overlooking the main road which made it a bit noisy with larger trucks going up and down at times.

The Rooms

The rooms are pretty dated and basic, but then its not a 4 star hotel. As we entered our room, we immediately had a counter and fridge on our left. An old wardrobe had a few coathangers, an extra pillow, iron and board. To use the microwave you had to move it down closer to an electrical socket and then move it back again when you wanted to make a cup of tea (tea/coffee making is provided). There is also a toaster, fridge, TV and clock/radio.

Centrally located on Brockman Street, this hotel gives itself quite a good description and write up although in reality it was quite a disappointment. I found the hotel to be quite dreary and wasn’t impressed with the lady on reception when I checked in. With Best Western having had quite a good name in the past, I was not quiet expecting what we got. I certainly wouldn’t stay there again.
