We needed a break from the stress of work and the city. We chose to stay here because is seemed to be what we were looking for. What we discovered was more than we expected. Being fortunate enough to have the place to ourselves on the first night, we found total peace and relaxation. Our host had even lit our fire for us before we got here, so the cottage was lovely and warm when we unpacked.
My girlfriend Sondra and I spent about 2 hours just sitting on the veranda in the evening, enjoying a bottle of great local red wine that our hosts had organised for us. Gazing at the night sky and watching all the kangaroos that were right in front of our cottage, was one of the most romantic things we had experienced for years. This place lived up to our expectations and more!
Our cottage was really well set up and huge inside, compared to some other cabins that we have stayed in before. It was squeeky clean and the bed was very comfortable too.
On our second day we went to a few of the places that Debby (out host) told us about and met some lovely locals. We were keen to get back to our cottage to enjoy another evening in, so didn't stay out all that long. That night we met some other guests who were staying here - a lovely family from Germany, who invited us in to their cottage for a drink. This is the first time we have ever felt so comfortable when staying somewhere. It was like a family atmosphere with everyone happy, trusting and friendly. I think it must be because we were all so close to nature that our inhibitions seemed to leave and we were all very friendly to each other.
One of the best weekends away we have every had and we are sure to return again, probably with friends.
Unique Quality: Really friendly hosts who offer a peaceful relaxing venue, with wildlife like we had never seen before. There were Emus, kangaroos, possums and so many birds. The kookaburras did wake us up in the morning, but when I looked at my watch on the bedside table I saw it was after 11 so we had slept in longer than we had for years!
One of the best things was lack of mobile phone cover - at first we felt a bit isolated, but after our first day, we really didn't care any more. My girlfriend Sondra is a real estate agent, so this damn mobile phone is a pest - for three days we had peace and quiet which was a blessing and brought us closer together.

Our great break away from the city started with a friendly welcome from our hosts. We discovered more about local attractions in the Pemberton area, than we had ever before on our 3 previous visits. Armed with maps, brochures, booklets, groceries, dvd movies and this was before we even got to our cottage. Debbie had already been over and kindly lit our fire, so when we walked inside, it was warm and cozy. This was a first also, as in other places we had stayed, this had never been done for us. The cottage was extremely well set up for our family. Clean, comfy and warm are the words that best describe the accommodation. The hospitality was the best we had experienced for years. We were even encouraged to fill in a survey form to send to a tourism commission which we did gladly. Overall, we had an excellent stay and would not hesitate to go back again.
Unique Quality: Clean, neat and tidy inside. Great outdoor barbeque. Plenty of firewood for our fire. Warm welcome. My parents were visiting from the UK with us and really adored watching all the kangaroos outside our cottage and also saw some emus too.
