Northbridge
by Cabana_Boy
Northbridge is the scene in Perth… The area boasts a multitude of ethnic restaurants, bars/pubs, bottle shops, cafes, music venues and all those funky shops your looking for. Certainly there are enough restaurants in this area to keep one busy for several weeks (perhaps even months) without repeating. Italian and Asian eateries are well represented, as are the Irish pubs (not too surprising that the Irish have cornered the market on the pub scene). It’s also one of those areas that still has a bit of an edge to it, as it is not uncommon to see the occasional homeless dude sitting on a bench or even sleeping in a doorway near all the people sitting at the outdoor tables and cafes.

Up or down the coast. Up the coast leads to Greenough where the trees grow as at a 90 degree angle to the ground.
Down the coast, Cape Naturalist. There are treetop walks that take your breath away.
Beautiful either way... Esperance. This place is as beautiful as they come. Hardly any tourists, and friendly people. The blue water meets the sandy beaches and the sun is beautiful. It's only a few hours from perth, but you're missing out if you don't visit...
Australian Christmas Tree
by keeweechic
A really beautiful native tree in Western Australia is the Australian Christmas Tree (or Nuytsia Floribunda). The tree belongs to the mistletoe family and can grow up to 33ft (10m) or more. Not the easiest trees to grow as it is a parasitic tree and partially relies on a host plant for nutrition. Just a beautiful bright yellow sight when you do come across them.

Check out Fremantle. That is where the Swan River meets the Indian Ocean and where the Americas Cup was defended. I highly recommend the marina and the excellent restaurants and pubs around the marina. Fremantle has a sense of small town about it, but with all the amenities that a city would have as it is virtually part of Perth.
Get there by following Stirling Hwy (north shore) or Canning Hwy (south shore)
Seafood at Christmas
by arianne_1504
While there still are traditionalists among us, more and more WA families enjoy seafood as a major part of their Christmas fare on the big day. Crayfish, prawns and crabs all suddenly increase in price. And Christmas is just as likely to be held outdoors as in the home.
