Early History
by keeweechic
For thousands of years the Nyoongar tribe occupied the area and even then the stone implements found in the area can go back something like 40,000 years. It was not until 1696 though that a fleet of 3 ships arrived at Rottnest Island and the crew proceeded to Cottesloe Beach. It was on this trip that Vlamingh (the commander of the fleet) named the river, the Swan River.
The King's Park lights. They...

The King's Park lights. They are beautiful. You drive up to King's Park and as you drive between all the gum trees that are flooded in coloured lights, you can look down and see the whole of Perth city. It is THE best spot to be at night time. I think my best memory of Perth was actually at the King's Park lights. My family drove up there just before we went to America and they will probably take me there before I leave for France. It's fantastic, because then the whole city is stuck in the back of your head throughout the entire trip.
Pinnacles Desert
by Wang_hong
Pinnacles Desert is located at the north of Perth city beside Indian Ocean. We were almost lost in this Deset on 2nd, Feb. Before we entered this park, guider asked us to catch up with him tightly in case of being lost.
After I took some pics with my mate, we suddently found no one beside us. It seemed that all the people disppeared in one second which really scared us a lot.
Thank for that old couple who led us to the entrance of park and also thank for our guider who went back to find us.
Jewel Cave (Augusta, WA)
by Jillworld
You must explore Jewel Cave, near the town of Augusta. The guided tour was fascinating! The cave had only been discovered around 50 years ago and had been untouched by civilization for centuries. There was even evidence & skeletons of extinct animal species & their footprints!! -since moved to museums.
Throw Another Shrimp on the Barbie!

As a West Aussie, one of our favourite things to do when the warm weather hits, is get together with our family and friends for a barbecue. At home, at the beach, at a national park, wherever – nothing satisfies our appetites like throwing a few snags (sausages) on the bbq, having a beer with mates and playing a few rounds of cricket or chucking the frisbie.
Most modern homes these days in WA are built with an al fresco area to take this into account. Outdoor entertaining is a big way of life in WA.
