Cheaper rooms are very good value and comfortable
by TripAdvisor Member Bindoon
We stayed (again) at the Parmelia Hilton, Perth last Friday. As the other reviewers say the cheaper rooms (usually available under AUD100) are excellent value. Our ‘Queen Guest Bedroom’ was well maintained with a small balcony giving us river glimpse. The bed was very comfortable and we made use of the ‘pillow menu’ to get great pillows (delivered with prompt courtesy). Bathrobes were provided and in bathroom there were quality toiletries. The bathroom was a little run down but very clean and functional. The Hilton security, service and location in the CBD make these cheaper rooms unbelievable value. Check in and check out was quick and easy, valet parking useful and we had very pleasant stay. Those who want the luxury end of the accommodation should get a higher priced room; - the Deluxe and Executive rooms are all you expect in Hilton luxury – very spacious and nice. We had a meal at the Adelphi Steak House. The meal was very good with excellent service and a good menu choice.
Not a pleasant stay!!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights in October. We were happy to be staying at a Hilton after a few unpleasant hotel stays in WA. The bell hops were fantastic (particularly Graeme). They were extremely helpful and polite. Check in was also good and the lobby of the hotel was very nice. That was the last pleasant thing about this hotel. Our room was extremely small, there was barely enough room for 2 suitcases to be laid on the floor and still be able to walk around the room. We went to the Adelphi restaurant in the hotel for supper on our first night. The service was awful, the food was awful and we decided we wouldn't come back. Well the second night we couldn't find anything open after 5pm so we had no choice but to go back. The food and service was just as awful as the first night. The third night we got room service and it was great.
The biggest problem we had with this hotel was the bed. On our first night my boyfriend went to get in bed and noticed that there was dried blood all over his bed sheets and over the floor next to the bed. It wasn't a blood stain on the sheets that had been washed, there was recent dried blood all over the place. This was the first time he used the bed so we knew it wasn't him plus he hadn't cut himself in any way pretty much making it impossible to have bled everywhere and not have known it. We called down to the reception and the first thing she said was "are you sure it wasn't you?". After we convinced her that we hadn't even touched the bed before this she said she'd send up a maid. I thought we would be moved to another room but no that was not an option. A maid came up and then again we had to convince her that no the blood did not come from us. So she started to make the bed with new sheets and then informed us she didn't know how to do it so it might not be perfect. I don't know why she wouldn't know how to make a bed but by this point I just wanted to go to sleep. She finished and left. Then we noticed that she in fact didn't know how to make the bed because she only gave us a fitted sheet, no flat sheet. We called reception again. This time she dropped the flat sheet off at the door and left. So, after anticipating a lovely time at the Hilton I ended up with blood all over my room and making my own bed in the middle of the night.
Pretty average

$295.00 per night was the rate my company paid, where $130.00 would have been a fairer amount. Was meant to have a non-smoking room, but upon entering the room it was clearly evident the previous guest was a smoker. The rooms are poorly lit and the noise from other rooms is clearly heard, especially the plumbing.
On a positive note, the staff are fantastic and meals i had were very good.
Hotel infrastructure needs a bit of an update in my opinion.
Great Deal for $99AUD

We booked a "Friday Night Special" on wotif.com and found it to be a pretty good deal. Hotel is in a fairly good location and easy to find but I wouldn't really say that it is a 5-star hotel - maybe in its heyday it might've been better but it is starting to feel a bit outdated.
We booked a standard room but upon check-in we were "upgraded" which I thought was nice. But to our surprise, the upgraded room was still fairly small with not much of a view. The bed was very comfortable and had the best night stay during our long weekend holiday. The bell service was efficient and helpful.
Can't comment on the restaurant but had a drink at the bar and the service was good even late at night.
It is a decent hotel to stay in - clean and comfortable but I would think twice about paying more than $160 for this room.
Good hotel for $90 per night

We stayed at the Parmelia Hilton between Christmas and New Year.
After paying only $90 per night for 5 nights, I was really looking forward to 5 star luxury.
We had a standard room which was very small, but luxuriously appointed. The only issue I had was that the window in the room was very small, so there was no lookout.
On Boxing Day morning, we went down to have breakfast in the restaurant. We were not advised of the price, and when we received the bill, we discovered that it was $35 per person and then they had the gall to charge us a further 10% surcharge because it was a public holiday. The breakfast was definately not worth the money.
The hotel is well positioned, however there are no shops of restaurants in the nearby vicinity, the CBD of Perth is relatively quiet and we would walk over to Northbridge each night (20 minutes) for dinner.
Overall, I would recommend the hotel at the price we paid, but the rooms are certainly not worth the rack rate.
Still impressed, but a little stretched.....

I stay here as a frequent traveller, but am amazed that the hotel doesn't seem to recognise the return visitors (800870682)... Last time I visited the hotel (my 13th or so stay this year) I was awarded the 3rd floor - above the gym floor.... out of 10 possible floors....a letter welcomed me as a Blue member (even though I was Silver). Not meaning to sound "nobby", this place doesn't recognise loyalty easily. Shame really. The final straw was when a colleague stayed recently (very rare traveller) and he was very happy in his suite.....
Bring Simon the White back to the Rydges Perth - that was service and rcognition of loyalty.... Shouldn't have strayed I s'pose....
Still, I stand by many reviews, the service of the ground crew at Perth Hilton is commendable and greatly appreciated - it saves the Hotel from mass exodus to other mirages... C'mon - get with it!
Booo! What a shame. : (
