by bryINpoland 15 Minutes from Perth, at Scarborough beach, is the Rendezvous Hotel Observation City Perth. Built in 1986, and thought by many as a 17 story eye soar to Scorboroughs coast line, the hotel is pretty much of a landmark now. With 333 rooms, 3 restaurants, 4 bars, spa, shops, and located on the door step of Scarborough beach, the Rendezvous Hotel is the focal point of the city of Scarborough. Scarborough beach is known for its surfing, and long white sand beaches. At night, the hotels lower floors are packed with people going in an out of the many clubs and restaurants. Being a 5 Star restort, and the only 5 star resort within Perth, you can expect first class service and luxary from the staff of the Rendezvous. The only draw back to the hotel is its location away from the city. Without a car, you are forced to catch either taxis or the hotel shuttle. Not my first choice of places to stay within Perth, but not a bad choice either.

This is a 5 star, 25 story hotel about 10 minutes outside of the city. Most rooms have an ocean view with a balcony so you can sit back and watch the sunset - and Perth is the perfect spot for this. The sun sinks right over the ocean there! The hotel is right on Scarbourgh Beach, which is one of the nicest beaches in the area, and still be minutes outside of the city. There is every type of water sport you can imagine - kayaking, surfing, etc. The hotel is like a small city in itself. Every time of shop or service you can imagine is there. You don't even really need to leave. Kick back and relax!
The hotel has great nightlife. it has amazing bars, a huge disco, live bands, gaming and lounge areas, etc. The lounge bar is fairly quiet - and is a nice break from the multi-level disco. The pools are absolutely gorgeous and nestled in beatifully landscaped gardens. They have a fitness center, a spa,

View from the boat by warney I stayed here for 2 weeks a few years ago and I had an amazing time. The staff were very friendly and the longer you stayed at the hotel, the more they got to know you and the more effort they gave in their service and friendship. I didn't have one bad thing to say of my extended stay. The location is great, right on the never-ending sands of Scarborough Beach. All the rooms, which were renovated in 1998, have balconies with ocean views. If you shop around you can pick up some great packkages. the pool is great, and there's also a pool side bar and jacuzzi set in the rocks. The tennis courts are great and are a very short walk from the front of the hotel. Among the entertainment venues is a British-style pub popular with locals, a live music lounge, and a dance club
3 restaurants; 3 bars; heated outdoor swimming pool; children's pool; 2 outdoor day/night tennis courts; health club; Jacuzzi; sauna; limited water-sports-equipment rentals; bike rental; childcare center; concierge; tour desk; business center (Mon-Fri); shopping arcade; salon; 24-hr. room service; in-room massage; babysitting; self-service laundry; same-day laundry/dry cleaning; executive-level rooms. A daily courtesy shuttle operates between the hotel, Perth city, Burswood Casino, Fremantle, and a local mall.

 | Rendezvous Observation City Hotel: For those who love the beach.

The Rendezvous Hotel is situated at Scarborough Beach overlooking the Indian Ocean. Its approx 15 minutes drive from the CBD and 35 minutes from the airport. Taxi fare from the airport is approx $50.00 AUD. This hotel is large and imposing, sitting proudly on the oceanfront. Most rooms offer ocean or pool views. The best rooms are on the northern side with ocean and pool view. Our room 1602 is called a luxury sea view room; it faces directly onto the beach with an added side view of the pool. The room is spacious and comfortable with a king size bed, mini bar, TV, bedside tables, two chairs and coffee table. The balcony has a small plastic table and chair set, which is chained to the floor. In the afternoon, the sea breezes are welcoming, although it can get incredibly windy. The bathroom is adequate with all the necessary toiletries. The pool area is pleasant enough with bar/ pool service and a spa. The only real gripe we had with this hotel was on arrival they did not have our booking, which we had booked since Dec07 and confirmed twice before arriving. We were holding a conference, and hence needed an allotment of rooms. To our shock and horror, not all rooms we requested were on their reservations. (This had happened to us the previous year). To me this was very unacceptable, and told them so. With a free coupon for a drink whilst they sorted out their mess, we waited for an hour before finally entering our room. if you want a sea holiday or just want to be near the beach, then this hotel is sufficient. The beach is gorgeous and that alone takes away any grievances. Lobby and restaurants are pleasing enough, breakfast and lunch being above average. However, the main dining room Savannahs has beautiful coastal views but the menu is very limited. You are better taking a stroll down the road to one of the cafes. The best being Caffe Spiaggia, the owner Michael Pracilio is a fabulous host and the food is sumptuous.
Overall, we enjoyed our week stay here. This hotel is a five star only because of the facilities on offer, which include business centre, car hire, baby-sitting, air conditioning, tea and coffee facilities, car parking, currency exchange, laundry services, day rooms, steam room, swimming pool, spa, gym, tennis courts, and other amenities. However, I would classify the hotel as a four star as a major overhaul is needed to bring it up to a five Star hotel. If you love the beach, and its summer time, I would still choose this hotel with all its faults, than a hotel in the city. The other alternative is the Seashell Apartments, which are also on the waterfront and have excellent views.
