Hi
If i would like to take public transport from Perth to Margaret River, what would be a good suggestion? how long would it take?
Thinking of signing up for day tours at Margaret River visitor centre, if its recommended?

I think this is still current - cost was $31.00 but probably more now.
South West coach lines, daily service leaving Perth at 1.15pm and gets to Margaret River about 6.00pm.

America rules when it comes to the Drive-thru's. I mean we got fast food, banks, pharmacys, post offices, and even wedding chapels. But leave it to the Australians to have a Drive-Thru Liquor shop.
One of my new Australian friends, Jesse put it best today when i took the picture. "well you dont expect us to get out of the car when we are drunk to buy our Alcohol, do you?"
Simply pull up to the front. Tell the clerk what u need, and bang! Off you go with your Liquor. Easier then Mcdonalds.

Tourist Lounge

Go to the Tourist Lounge - located on the second floor of Carillion City(in central Perth). This free service is dedicated to tourists. It is where you can access all sorts of information about Perth and Australia. It's laid back setting (not a tourist office) allows you to go there if you just want a retreat and relax and have a coffee before you explore Perth for the day. You can leave your valuables and the lounge offers free booking service.
Travelling Tips

Best by plane.....for example it takes you 3 full days of 15 hrs per day to drive from Sydney to Perth and thats taking the short cut. The picture is the signpost at the Western Australian/South Australian border. Its also the start of the longest stretch of straight border in the world, able to be seen from space it streches some 2000 kms north. Also included on one of the worlds most awesome road trips is a 120km straight stretch of highway.
Public transport in all capitol citys of Australia is second to none.....Western Australia relying more so on buses than other states due to our distances and lack of population along possible rail routes. A tip to international visitors, if you want to save a lot of money fly thru South East Asia into Australia on one of the asian airlines...Maylasian Airlines for example. Excellent stopovers, excellent service and can save you half the cost of the flight plus get great shopping in too.

To look like a local, grow a beard that makes it look like you have a dead rat on your chin, wear hideous checked shirts and acquire a mutant haircut. This ZZ Top / Biker look will make you look just like an Aussie. Quite a few people in Perth really do look like this, including some of the men.
