Best place on the island
Apart from the self contained cabins and apartments the 2 main accommodation establishments on Rottnest are the Rottnest Lodge and Rottnest Quokka Arms Hotel.
The hotel was the summer residence of the Governors of Western Australia and built in 1864 and is a stately old mansion that has been added to over the years since the Governors ceased visiting and tourism took over.
Comprising 18 self-contained hotel rooms (similar to motel style accommodation) built on the side of the hotel there is court side or bay side suites available.
Bistro with cook-yourself facilities and buffet salad/bread etc or dine in the dinning room overlooking Thompson Bay. The hotel has a variety of bars and is a band venue, however accommodation is away from the bars and noisy patrons.
Suggest you may want to combine a return ferry crossing from either Perth or Freemantle with accommodation rather than booking ferry and hotel separately. Some packages have buffet breakfast included

I only ate there, but it looked very nice small place.

Yes, the Lodge is one of the few hotels that occupy the island of Rottnest, and it is also a big part of the islands history.
The first of the Lodge was built in 1838 and housed up to 180 people. Oh, did i mention they were prisoners? The section of the Lodge they call the "Quad" was built by the Aboriginal prisoners.
The second addition came to the Lodge in 1880, Palm Court. What a beautiful name. Palm Court was used as a boys reformatory school til 1901.
Ofcourse all the rooms have been re-done since then, if they havent, well then they had it good. I dont think they had the pool, the bar, the restaurant, and continental breakfast either.
The Lodge isnt only surrouded by the history of the island, its literally part of it...
