We stayed at the Edgewater...

We stayed at the Edgewater Resort located near the airport on the beach. The rooms were clean and modern but not five star buy ant means. The restaurant was good but to expensive.

The bar and restaurant are located on the beach which was fantastic and also had a pool to cool off in. The gardens around the complex were very well mantained and beutiful to walk through.Entertainment was good with music on the patio provided by the Worst Bad on the Island...yes that was their name..

this is a bit tricky, because...

this is a bit tricky, because there is a law that you have to have reservations before you enter the islands. At this time it isn't a problem because before you go through customs you can go to a hotel reservation desk and make reservations. And do this this, because the chances are big that they WILL CHECK.
I stayed at the are renga motel on Rarotonga, it is a hostel with private rooms and shared rooms. As normally the private are more expensive, so go for the shared ones, I stayed 5 days and was ina a room all myself the whole time, and if I had to share, there were two beds only anyway.

They have a nice garden at the back where they grow fruit, and if you stay they will give fruit from time to time for free, and it is GOOD.
And acros the road there is the beach, which is on the west side, so you will see many awesome sunsets.

vara's Beach house: vara's Beach house

£12

The sunrises were spectacular. The hostel was very clean. We hardly saw Vara. The front lawn dipped onto a wonderful beach. There was an expensive hotel beside us which we could use their beach chairs and snorkelling equipment for free!

Stayed at the Are-Renga Motel....

Stayed at the Are-Renga Motel. Very basic but clean and met some nice people there.

Only downer was the very large cockroach (which we don't have in Canada) in my room that flew past my head and almost gave me a heart attack!

Rarotonga - Varas beach house,...

Rarotonga - Varas beach house, Muri beach. Very popular with a great location right on Muri beach which is the best beach on the island with its lagoon. There are 3 differnet buildings to stay in, the beach house is best as it is only a 10 second walk to the beach. The rooms are dormitory style rooms.Vara is very friendly and helpful with plans for the islands. When i was there, there was a good crowd of people who got on really well which made my stay even better.

Aitutaki - 'Toms Cottage' - very cheap, i think the cheapest on the island. You get a room to yourself but its abit scummy!(watch out for huge spiders and cockroaches!) It has hammocks to laze around in and is right on a beach but not the best beach. Tom hires out mopeds for NZ$15/day. Tom himself is Mr Laidback!

Atiu - i stayed with a half english, half maori family which was great to find out local info'(also free grub helped!!). They also gave me free hire of a bike and a suggested route to explore the island, although i still managed to get myself lost! The family also organise the Cave tours on the island.
Costs approx NZ$18.
