Traders’ Ridge Resort: Live like a Victorian Age German overlord
Traders’ Ridge Resort is a real 5 star international level resort that is built in 1880's Victorian “Island colonial” architecture style going back to the days of German rule in the Islands. It is a small intimate kind of place with only 20 rooms and two grand suites. Walk into the lobby and you know you are in for a treat the staff treat you like well a turn of the Century German overlord. The cost is about $200 a day but that includes free Nitrox for deep diving. *
Unique Quality: Every where the Traders’ has that little extra touch. For example when you fly into or out of Yap the Traders' resort has a “club” called Traders Landing, located at Yap airport, which give you a comfortable $215 aircon place to hang out waiting for the plane with really nice ambiance. The dive center and the dive shop are second to none with really good dive masters.
What is really special about Traders Ridge is that it was built out of two old building one the Japanese WW2 bunker and the American. But even more special is that it was what it was built for. It was made so the world would be closer to the Ethnic Art Institute of Micronesia , and experience Yapese traditional dance ceremonies, and traditional art which in turn would help the Yapese hold onto there unique culture.

Manta Ray Hotel OR Traders Ridge: Island Comfort
There aren't many places to stay on Yap that cater to tourists. Just the Manta Ray and Traders Ridge. Personally, I stayed at the Manta Ray because it is right on the water (although both are five star hotels).
The Manta Ray is a nice little hotel with about 23 rooms. Each room is decorated differently with some sort of ocean theme and a unique bedspread made by some local.
The hotel caters to divers, so if that is you, this is the place to stay. Everything you need for diving is available and you'll have a great time in the pristine waters. True to its name, this is the place to see live manta rays in action.
The hotel will pick you up at the airport if you let them know when you arrive.
Enjoy your stay!
