Bures by kyoub Situated at the southern tip of the Yasawa Islands, Wayalailai Resort is proudly 100% Fijian owned and operated by the local villagers of Wayalailai (also known as Wayasewa) Island. All profits are shared amongst the villagers for school, church and village improvements, including the new school library.
Great ocean views, large beach, friendly natives. Good food and nightly kava kava

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Crusoes. The staff are lovely, the villagers next door extremely welcoming, and the setting divine! It is about a 2 hour drive from Nadi along the Coral Coast. The drive doesn't seem to take long at all, as you pass through several villages along the way, which makes it interesting. There are also spectacular views of the coastline for much of the trip. Crusoes is fairly remote. You enter on a 4 kilometre unsurfaced road which ends at reception, where you will be brought a refreshing cocktail...much needed after the drive in if you are like me and scared of heights...the road is dizzying, but spectacular and a great introduction to your holiday! It is a very small resort, with only 29 bures, but we loved it for the intimacy. It seems to attract all kinds of people from young adventurers, to families, lovers and retirees out to see the world. The resort has a tour desk offering numerous day trips, as well as a dive shop (Dive Crusoes..see separate tip), and a massage bure offering an odd but relaxing kind of massage. They also organise beautiful, romantic and stress free weddings (separate tip and travelogue) at a fraction of the cost of a wedding back home! One of the great things about this place is that there are no hidden extra's. Snorkeling safari's, glass bottom boat tours, village tours etc, are all free of charge (will get around to putting up separate tips for these eventually!), the other resort we stayed at charged for these kinds of activities ( as do most other resorts). Accomodation starts at Fijian $234 per double, but the website has great packages available. If your budget allows, get one of the deluxe seaside bures, they are the best! We had only one complaint and that was at check out when we discovered that our initial deposit had been lost. We ended up paying for the entire amount (including the deposit of about $2000), which was very annoying, and if we had been on a tight budget, could very well have ruined the rest of our holiday. When we arrived home we faxed over our bank statements showing the deposit, and they have since refunded our money. I think there may have been a problem with previous management, as we booked before the changeover. Anyway...as I said, it has now been resolved, and I refuse to let one little glitch spoil an otherwise perfect holiday! We stayed for 6 nights at malolo Island Resort for our honeymoon and enjoyed every moment. There are enough activities to keep you as busy as you would like, and enough space to have as much privacy as you need. There are 3 restaurants to choose from (see places to eat tips), a spa that gives GREAT massages, a kids club to occupy the small fry, snorkelling right off the beach, an adults only pool, a Padi Dive Centre, and more. All of the accomodation is bure style and they all have ocean views. The rooms are bright, breezy and clean, and are serviced daily. There are no TV's or telephones in the rooms to remind you of the 'real' world. Hammocks are strung out in the shade and there were plenty to go around. There is a laundry service which is $16 fijian per bag (9items). The staff at this resort are wonderful, really friendly and excellent with the kids. The only complaint I had was the position of our bure. I had requested one at the far end of the resort, away from the main complex, but ended up in no. 16, which had the kids club behind it and got pretty noisy at times. The bures from no. 26 and up would be much quieter, and also out of the wind, so try to get one of those if you go. Prices for bures were $566fijian. Deluxe bures $660...I couldn't see the difference between standard and deluxe except that deluxe had a separate bedroom. Two kids under 12 stay free. We were lucky enough to go at a time when all meals were offered free, which made our stay there a really good deal. Their website has new offers coming up all the time, so if you're flexible with your travel dates, keep an eye on it. Safe Haven by kyoub The Best Motol Inn was where we stayed during the storm and for several days afterwards. We had no electricity or water for two days but they managed to feed all of us. The staff was remarable at keeping everyone informed and happy. I would recommend this as a super place to stay.

bedroom by kyoub This resort is up on the north side, away from the crowd. Lovely bures, great views, and delicious food. Friendly Australian owners.
This resort has it all. Great pool area, snorkling, diving, and boat trips to nearby islands.

Hideaway resort by paradisedreamer The hotel has a main reception area where there is a restaurant and some shops. There is a lovely bar by the pool which overlooks the sea. The Bures (bungalows) are set in lush tropical gardens. They are painted in bright vibrant colours. Inside the rooms are spacious.
The bathroom has an enormous shower. It leads onto and enclosed patio with an outdoor bath. There is an activities bure where you can get towels and snorkelling gear at no charge. I have stayed at the Outrigger on the Lagoon twice now, a large resort-style hotel on Viti Levus Coral Coast. Quite an expensive stay, but great accommodation, staff and food. Even the cheaper rooms are comfy and well-equipped with private balconies, and the larger rooms have great views over the grounds and ocean beyond - I've stayed in one of the deluxe rooms and you get a bathroom with those large enough to hold a party in. Alternatively you can opt for the most expensive option and stay in one of the thatched bures scattered around the grounds. The pool is huge - the largest in Fiji. Next to the pool each day is a barbecue, there is a large restaurant which alternates buffet nights with more formal a la carte menu nights, there is a smaller formal restaurant, a bar, and a beachside pizza place. The lagoon is tidal, and when the water is right you can snorkel and kayak (equipment is complimentary). The hotel also has a small range of shops. Local people sell crafts around the grounds, but don't pressure you to buy. Allikats Top Tip for staying at the Outrigger:Wander up the beach a little way to your right, and you will find a cheap little restaurant - meals and drinks here are not flash, but cost half what you would pay at the hotel. Hair braiding is popular, and expensive at the hotel, but available at a fraction of the cost just by the same restaurant. In fact, venturing out from the resort just a little way you will save a fortune and meet some great locals.
We had a real fun evening at the Sundowner pizza bar, where they held an International Crab Race. Betting was fierce, but the Kiwi crab didn't do too well. Hermit crabs are placed in the centre of a circular board and race to the edge. by Dodo22 If you feel like treating yourself, you can't go past the Sheraton Royal on Denerau Island (not really an island at all as its reclaimed swampland just outside of Nadi) The Royal is one of 3 in the Sheraton complex (the others being the Sheraton Fiji and Denerau Villas. We liked the Royal as it was more traditional in feel.
It has a lovely pool and great views from the restaurant. There's heaps of activities if you want - kayaking, hobie cat sailing, trips to their own private island just offshore or you can laze around the pool and be waited on!!! Veranda by kyoub We stayed here at the Club Fiji Beach Resort for two night before we were evacuated and taken to a motel in Nadi. The grounds are very pretty and the thatched bungalows have a nice porch, but we didn't think that they were especially clean. The staff was very friendly and the food was good.

by bjmd22 Beachcomber looks expensive at first at $F75 per night. But you dont feel cheated at all. The food is buffet style and very very very good. The odrms vary from the 100 bed room to the 8 bed room, both are nice. There is mini golf, vollyball and other activities. The night life is why most people travel to beachcomber It cost $F40 each way to get there fromt he marina on the mainland, you can also get there using your Bula pass on the Yasawa flyer. The probel with this is they will not pick you up at beach comber and take you to the mainland. You must go outwards first then comeback in, an all day mission. The trick is to stay somewhere further out for a night or so after leaving beahcomber..or just sit back and enjoy the all day cruise on the flyer which is very nice.
