I stayed one night at the Kennedy hotel in Nadi because flight was leaving from there. The hotel is nice, and clean and not tooexpensive, they have dormotories. At the coral coast I sateyd around Korotogo at the Korotogo Bungalows. They have bungalows, dormotories. And if you are with a few friends or met some people on the way, go for the Bungalows, they are clean, very big and not expensive if you share the costs (will come to dormotorie level) The dormotories are very basic, with basiuc cooking facilities, and extremely basic beds, but it is Fiji, and who wants to spend nights in a room in paradise anyway??? Right on the beach, even though you can't really swim there because of the reef, but good beaches are 10 minutes away (where the hotels are way more expensive) |

The traditional bure (thatched-roof cottage based on traditional villages house but with modern amenities) enjoys great popularity and offers a truly Fijian atmosphere. Tubakula. Here's Canadian Mike Zosiuk, also holding a Fiji Bitter, enjoying the sunset. I paid to share a hut, and ended up with Mike, another Canadian, 2 Yanks and a fellow brit. I'd worked in a summer camp in the 'States a couple of months earlier, and 1 of the Americans knew one of my campers. He'd not been home for 3 years, so I was able to dig out a picture of the girl. 'Wow. She's reeeeeeally grown up!' Dirty young man. |

I day dream about returning to Treasure Island all the time. I fantasize that my husband will surprise me with tickets for our 10 year anniversary. (Six years to go...) It's such fantastically laid back place, its' hard not to think about it. The staff is beyond wonderful: we had drinks (fruit punch...yummy yummy) in our hands before we were there for two minutes. They knew our names after two days and ALWAYS had smiles on their faces. They even invited us to play volleyball with them. You can see other islands dotting the waters around Treasure so you don't feel completely isolated. But there are no modern distractions: TV, computers, phones. We were able to spend time with one another, one on one. A typical day would involve waking up for breakfast (really early too, because of the time difference); we go scuba diving, come back and log our dives, have lunch, take a nap, snorkel all afternoon, walk over to the turtle pond, relax at our buré, get cleaned up and have dinner. EVERY DAY. I could not have been more relaxed! I went for an hour massage at the beauty salon. Many other beauty treatments were available but I'd never had a massage before and I have to say, it was DEVINE. And considering that we are American, the exchange made it very very inexpensive; WAY less than we'd pay in the States. |

Backpacker place on Waya Island 15 F$ with three meals The people from the little village next door are wunderfull. You can have a good contact with the inhabitants and talk with them about their occupations. In the ealry morning take a shower in the fresh waterfall ! If you want to do an activity : you can walk to the top of the hill (superbe vew) but take a guide with you and a big bottle of water; or you can go fishing; or catch some shrimps in the river; or do some snorcling in one of the beautiful beaches but try to take your own gear. Maybe it's not the best place for arachnofobic people... they are big but harmless ! On the picture : the crew on Waya with some over tourists and me on the beach. |

I stayed at the Nadi hotel, west of downtown Nadi, great to meet other backpackers from all around the world. A bit noisy and not 'that' clean but rates are reasonnable. |

In general the hotels in fiji are quite high compared to the life standard of the island the absolute best hotel concerning price and quality is the TAMBUA SANDS ON SOUTHERN SHORE with nice reception and don't miss the folklore dance from the villagers nearby..they keep you good in memory and help you by anything.. 80 USD |

can't remember, but it was ok Speech of the 'manager' every night, the same every night. Very relaxed, great beaches, nice people. |
