More about Mango Bay Resort
A great location definatley lots of room for improvement.
We were impressed/relieved to have our mango bay transfer awaiting us even though our flights arrived an hour late. $40 fjd per person booked through the resort. If travelling with more than two people though a cheaper option is a taxi costs $90fjd to the resort.Staff were friendly, when they arrived to work. If staying in the bures choose One , two, or three all look directly out to the beach. One is the most private. 6 is closest to the pool. Bure accomodation was tidy/basic. When the sheets were changed I was horrified to see the underblanket and pillows were VERY mouldy, could be a serious problem for asthma sufferers. Other patrons confirmed this was common with other bures. I checked out the tents and was so happy that I had decided against them.
Backpackers got the best value I reckon. You can probably look past some of these things if your only paying $35 or $44 per night. Dedicated massage hut was relaxing and great value.Food was very ordinary but cheap. If you stay here try visiting The Warrick Resort $10 one way in a taxi for a beautiful meal. Naviti $20 one way in a cab for an exquisite chinese dining experience.
"Mango Bay Offers" A nice location nice friendly people but "Flash"? perhaps not.
Along with a friend we decided to fly from Brisbane to Fiji. We had heard it was great and picked up a brochure in a hostel we were staying in. We headed straight to Mango Bay Resort which was very slick and new and with very friendly staff. The place was right on the beach, in it's own little cove. They had their own fishing boat, which we used to take a trip to another island and cook the fish we caught on the deserted beach.....AMAZING. The guys who ran the place attended to our every need. The food was great, the facilities great. Activities were always on if you wanted to join in. Perhaps we were lucky for we had a great crowd of like minded people. Scuba diving in the morning, pool-volley ball in the afternoon, drinks then party in the disco at night. Movie night, softball, snorkeling, and well....girls...what can I say.
The owners really understood what it is like to be on holidays, they joined in with the same wave length, not always after your $$.
This place was hard to leave, I heard some people stay for months.........
Dorms are super cheep and very clean. If you're a romantic couple take a shack right on the beach......Not sure if I would take children.....PARTY TIME.
Mango bay turned out to be the best resort we have stayed in whilst in Fiji! If you haven't been there yet you should definately go and check it out. We only planned to stay there 2 nights but ended up staying 7. And we weren't badgered at all to stay, we wanted too!!!!! The place is amazing and everything there is top notch. They are located on a little cove with a beautiful beach, and if the scenery doesn't blow you away the service from the staff certainly will. If you want to just lay and relax either by the pool or on the beach you can do, but if you are like us and want to be more active, the daily activity board is always packed!!
There are many activities many of which are free, i.e snorkelling, kayaking. The activities aren't all at the resort either there are daily excursions and trips, i.e waterfall hike, Island trip, Suva shopping trip, and lots more.
We went whilst it was rainy season and when it rained we weren't a little bit bored, the manager and staff put on lots of indoor activities too.
The facilities are great, and very clean! The food is beautiful and cheap enough for travellers. Also the menu changes every 3 days which is amazing as it gives you variety!
The genuinely friendly staff and management go out of their way to make you happy and really made our stay at Mango bay unforgettable!!! Thank you!
The derby duo!!
Great Location & Affordable Luxury
My sister and I stayed at Mango Bay Resort for 6 nights and found it to be an extremely realxing experience. We stayed in the dorms & found them to be basic, clean and safe. The facilities are great, and the location (right on the beach front) is perfect. Staff are v. friendly. Lots of activities if you want to get involved. Great place for snorkling, kayaking and chilling in the sun. Would definitely love to return soon! - Laura Arcus
I arrived at Mango Bay with the intention of staying for one night and ended up staying for a week as it is absolutely fantastic! This is, by far, the nicest hostel I have stayed in during my trip to Fiji.
It is great because the dorms are spacious, very clean and your bed is even made for you every day. The showers are also very clean and there was hot water every day which is a bit of a luxury in Fiji. The food was reasonably priced but was really nice.
The best part of Mango Bay is the atmosphere and the activities that are on offer, mostly free, throughout the day. We played softball, went kayaking, snorkelling and watched films when it rained. We even had local people dance for us. I was never bored. If you have time, make sure you visit as you won't regret it.
Hard to find a better place in Fiji
We stayed at Mango Bay in a Bure for the last three nights of our trip after traveling around Viti Levu and into the Mamanucas. Earlier on in our trip, we had stopped over at Mango Bay for the night with our tour and stayed in one of the Safari Tents. As we were extremely impressed with this, we were absolutely looking forward to our return. We were not disappointed. The place is absolutely mind blowing. One of the most pristine area's of Fiji we saw. The staff were amazing, the accomodation clean and comfortable. The bures have a fantastic outdoor shower. Went on a fantastic day trip out to Yanutha Island. Food and drinks were great and always heaps of activities. Crazy and Knox were great and had everyone in stitches! If you stay at one place on the Coral Coast, make it Mango Bay.
My Mango Bay Honeymoon!!!
My Mango Bay Honeymoon.............amazing!!! This place offered everything, if you just want to chill in a hammock and read a book it’s there, if you enjoy snorkelling, scuba diving or kayaking this is the perfect place, if you want to get to know the other guests there are plenty of free fun group activities, if you want slightly more adventurous fun this is available for a low cost, if there is something that you want to do that they don’t offer you can just ask (But if you ask Bret, you may have to ask 3 times or ensure that he organises it straight away, better yet just speak to Crystal...lol!!). The food was great and reasonably priced and the people were fantastic. We made such good friends with a lot of the workers and have continued to stay in touch. This was the highlight of the trip just hanging out with good, friendly, laid back, fun people. I would recommend this place to everybody planning a Fiji holiday!!!
As this is was our first trip to Fiji and we were on a budget we decided to book Mango Bay after having 3 nights at Smugglers Cove Nadi (which is horrible and needs another review)
This is an upmarket backpackers resort, the owers Brett and Crystal are lovely and made us feel very welcome however they like everyone to get involved in the activities they do every day. This seemed to form clicks between people and we felt a little out of place as we didn't want to join in with all activities, we just wanted to relax.
You can use the kayaks and snokell equipment for free and the breakfast is also included with the accomodation (ceral, fruit, and toast). We stopped in a safari tent which was differnt, nice decor but abit stuffy.
This is the only resort in the area there isn't a cash machine (unless you go the 5 star hotel which is about a 10minute taxi ride) and if paying by credit card you get charged 4%.
The meals aren't to grand either, we would have a large lunch as the food was a little better and go for something little on a night soup, chips etc.
What an AMAZING place!!!
My friend and I were reccommended to take a visit to this hotel at the tail end of round the world ticket, we planned to spend a few days here before leaving to go to the islands (yasawas etc) but this never quite happened!
We just fell in love with the place that we have ended up spending our whole 2 weeks here! we are still here now and just loving the vibe!
Im told its quite common to hear and friends we have also met here at the resort have changed their flight just to stay on longer!
This resort is amazing! The staff are excellent, and Brett (the owner) just makes the atmosphere so fun! There is never a dull day at mango bay! but just be warned that once you stay you wont want to leave... the place is a honey pot! definitely one of the highlights of our rtw ticket!
What else can i say...? it comes highly reccommended: the food is awesome, the staff so fun, theres so many activites you can partake in or just take it easy on the beach... its your choice! there is even accomodation to suit all pockets... backpacker to flashpacker!
I just want to say a HUUUGE thanks to everyone who is making our stay so very enjoyable!

This place is awesome....where do I start? We arrived late at night and our bags were taken directly to our room whilst we headed for some dinner in the restauarant. Food was really good and well presented. Infact I cant think of anything we didnt like on the menu the whole holiday (try the papaya mayo!). Fresh fish, lovely mashed potato and the desserts....the apple crumble...mmmm!
We stayed in Safari Tent No. 1 and we a bit aprehensive at first - however they are spacious and just soo relaxing (remember to take extra strength repellant), very clean and not like a tent at all. During the day everything is very relaxed, the activities guys are just the best...no pressure to get involved, but if you do you will definately be a regular whether its beach or pool volleyball, snorkelling, football, or even the egg throwing competittion - great fun. Try the jewellery making out of coconuts....you need some patience but its well worth it!
We made lots of new friends here and were constantly re-organising tables at dinner to accommodate more and more people we had met. Every second or third night the Feejee Experience turns up which usually signals a party night , although Mango Bay copes easily with party nights anytime. The dancefloor is just through from the bar and we had an awesome time dancing the night away - our thanks to Brett (one of the owners who gets totally involved in all the activities- quality) and Matt (top bloke manager) who were happy to play our random musical requests. Quiet nights are usually spent watching a dvd courtesy of Matt - which is a chance to recharge the batteries.
We extended our stay to 10 days as we just didnt want to leave and moved to a Bure. As there was only a double bed, it was no trouble to the reception staff to have an extra bed (single) put in for us. Again, very clean and very comfortable. The outside shower is very unexpected but if you've ever used Herbal Essences shampoo - you will
think you're in the advert!
We had an fantastic time and would recommend this place in an instant
- Mango Bay definately rocks!!
