Clean, modest budget accommodation in Nadi

We booked the Beachside Resort for our first night in Nadi and did actually expected the worst. The night was already booked, when we found lots of bad reviews but it was too late to change plans. I experienced those reviews as a bit unjust and that some people exaggerated. Its definitely NOT Fiji's worst stay and those really bad remarks almost spoiled our stay there. Thats the reason I felt to write that review.

If you are after a safe, clean and quiet place for a short stay in Nadi on your arrival AND you are on a budget, then the Beachside is a good choice. If you want more, then be prepared to pay for every extra requests. You can not expect that for that price that it will be included. I got the impression that the hotel as a small resort has to look after every dollar, but fair enough they have to meet their ends as well, but they try to have reasonable prices. I would not recommend it as sole place for your whole holiday - you would not get to know Fiji.

PICK-UP from the airport did not happen as smoothly as we hoped. We wrote an email with our flight date and arrival time and got a reply that we will get picked up, but nobody came. The helpful lady of the information called them and finally a taxi brought us there. Beachside Resort paid for it. The taxi brought us first to the wrong hotel, the Beachside seems not to be well known. No problems with taxis that did not wanted to drive down that road, like one review stated. There are much worse roads in Fiji.

The LOCATION, rates-to-go definitely placed it wrongly on their maps. You can find it in the LP on the Nadi map. Its at Nadi Bay, near to Club Fiji Resort, but not at the beach, despite its name. There is a beach if you continue to walk along the road, but not that kind what tourists would associate with holiday. To get away, you kinda need a taxi. The Beachside has friendly private drivers, who drive you around 24h wherever you want at fair rates.

The ROOM we got, a studio for a last minute price of $50AUD, was a decent size with ensuite and very clean and bright. I liked it, it was basic and for that price a very good value. It included a simple breakfast - toasts with jam. Drinks were extra and a choice of upgrades too. Nice setting, you are surrounded by tropical plants, have a pool to relax and the restaurant/ snack bar is very good. Wakeup in the morning is old-fashioned by rooster and do not forget an insect repellant when you go outside. Do not expect paradise nevertheless also do not expect the worse. Its actually quite nice there.

Fiji's Worst Resort

by mashed_NZ about Beachside Resort Fiji

* Terrible.
* Hated every minute of my stay here.
* Managers were not friendly. Made us charge everything to the room and wouldn't let us pay for meals or drinks with cash.
* Ugly pool thats run down.
* Filthy rooms with no fridge, tv or air con.
* Not even near the beach!! Its called The Beachside Resort and it really is NOT located beachside. The beach is yuk and a long walk from the resort.
