More about Capricorn Fiji Hotel

FAB FIJI, but beware...

by AusPinay

The landscape is awesome in Fiji! We had a fun time as the waters at the beach or pool are always perfect, not too warm nor too cold!

However, beware of getting too much sun! I still had brown specks on my face, despite the sun screen I used there, spf 30 mind you! The water was so nice you tend to forget the heat and then it burns after, oh dear!!

Another thing to beware of is your valuables. My kids' GAME BOY advance console was "stolen" in one of our hotel rooms! We didn't report/complain as we were hoping it was just tucked in one of our luggages and we didn't have enough time to look for it. We were very sure we left it inside the room before going to our cruise! So make sure you secure your valuables or don;t bring them though that would be hard for those with kids!

If staying in posh hotels like we did, make sure you know what type of accommodation you originally booked.
IN your excitement arriving in a hotel, you will certainly be happy getting checked in even early.

However, it happened to us and I noticed the room was too small for us. I remember booking a family room with a separate room for the kids with their own PS2 and tv even but the one we first had was different and had only a sofa bed! So after disobeying my hubby I decided to inquire and true enough, it was not the one I paid for so they gave us the right one in the end.

Btw, the game boy was lost in the other smaller hotel near Nadi called Capricorn International Hotel, don't go there he water is murky as well from the taps! The quiet and serene islands, with white sand and blue crystal waters, plus the lovely fauna! The pool/spa at Sofitel weren't so bad either!

Fiji in May - one week! Where to go/stay etc!! HELP

by NicoleGreen

Two friends and I are going to be stopping off in Fiji for one week in May during our RTW trip. We are on a budget but want to get as much out of our short stay on the islands as possible.
We are keen to experience the real Fiji, and don't want a totally drunk backpacker type stay ( i have got the impression this is what Beachcomber is like?) however, we are keen to meet some other backlpackers so a mix would be good!
Any recommendations would be more than welcome, and any info on best places to do PADI or scuba would also be ace...

If you're there at the same time as us, then get in touch!

That looks nice, clean and fun but don't know if we're after something a LITTLE more traditional? It looks a bit touristy?
I'm just going on the pictures...

touristy?? maybe alittle... but all the workers are local fijians... and they have many activities that are traditional fijian. including a kava ceremony, and trips to villages. he will pretty much agrrange anything for you ro do while you are there... but i would say it is fair to say its a "little" touristy... most places in fiji probably are though.

Not sure of your budget, but Malolo Island Resort has an "all meals free" deal going at the moment which saves a lot of money.

Malolo looks lovely! But we're backpacking and that might be a little pricey... I think we'll probably just island hop and see where we end up. Wouldn't mind a couple of days somewhere with a party atmosphere but also a bit of a time out!
Thanks for all the advice!

Have you tried looking at expedia.com.au- you can choose all sorts of accommodation there from most expensive to cheapest. We got ours there but just don't get Capricorn International Hotel. There are guest comments in the site so they are a good guide, not just the cheap prices. My sister also used their site for her Fiji trip- she was even alone, and she was happy with her choice, I just forgot which one.
