Convenient to the Airport!

Technically, we didn't stay at Raffles. We headed to Octopus Resort the day of our arrival in Fiji, but our flight landed several hours before the Octopus shuttle pick up time. So, the Octopus folks suggested that we wait at Raffles rather than waiting at the airport. And boy are we glad they did!

At Raffles, we enjoyed our first of many outdoor breakfasts! We were also able to take a shower in their pool facilities, soak our feet in the pool, and just generally relax in a nice, calm environment. We also made good use of the Raffles store stocking up on the essentials (bathing suits, a cover-up, and sunscreen) that we were lacking due to some lost luggage.

Unique Quality: Saying that Raffles is convenient to the airport is a bit of an understatement! In fact, Raffles is directly across the street from the airport! But, if that still seems too far to walk (like it did to us after an all night flight), simply hop on the Raffles shuttle and be at the hotel front door in no time at all!

BAD HOTEL AND SERVICE DONT GO

.........I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE....AT ALL UNLESS YOU DON'T MIND LOSING YOUR BELONGINGS........

I WAS THERE FOR THREE WEEKS. THE THREE WEEK SERVICE WAS OKAY BUT COULD OF HAD BEEN MUCH BETTER.GREEDY ROOM SERVICE GO IN AND OUT YOUR ROOMS WHEN YOU ARE NOT THERE ABOUT 5-6 TIMES THEY ASK FOR THINGS FROM YOU IN SUCH A NICE WAY, MINGLE SO MUCH, ALL THEY WANT IS YOU TO GIVE THEM GIFTS AND MONEY . BUT THE LAST DAY THE SERVICE WAS SO HORRIBLE. MY BELONGINGS WERE STOLEN FROM MY ROOM THAT WAS WORTH OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS. I CALLED THE MANAGER AND TOLD HIM THAT MY BELONGINGS WERE STOLEN AND HE TOLD ME HE COULD NOT DO ANYTHING. AND WE EVEN CALLED THE GENERAL MANAGER AND TOLD HIM WHAT HAPPENED AND HE SAID HE COULD NOT DO ANYTHING AS WELL . THATS WHEN I CALLED THE POLICE AND MADE A POLICE REPORT. AND I HAVE BEEN GOING TO THAT HOTEL FOR A VERY LONG TIME ABOUT SIX YEARS. NOW I WILL NEVER GO THERE BECAUSE OF HOW THEY TREATED ME ON MY LAST DAY. THE MANAGERS TOLD ME "WE CANT DO ANYTHING IF YOU LOSE IT YOU LOSE IT, WHERE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT"...I THINK THAT IF YOU LOSE ANY OF YOUR BELONGINGS WHEN YOU ARE STAYING AT A HOTEL THE HOTEL SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR IT.

.......IT MIGHT LOOK PRETTY BUT WHY GO SOMEWHERE WERE YOUR BELONGINGS ARE NOT SAFE AT ALL.......

Unique Quality: POOL, TENNIS COURT

Time for a little luxury again!

by Rusket about Raffles Gateway Hotel

On our return to Fiji from Kiribati, we had only one night in Fiji. We did not want to go far, and had been told about the Raffles Hotel at the airport. We managed to avoid all the agents in the arrival hall and emerged out and across the road. The hotel is clean and tidy, with a nice pool and a water slide. Guess where my son spent his time :-) Compared to norwegian prices it was cheap, but again, I can't be sure whether the price I paid was for one or two, since my son was 11 years old at the time. Nowadays prices start at FJ$ 139 for a double room. The proximity to the airport and the pool are the best parts of it, but everything else is OK, too.

Great place to start and end your trip to Fiji

by IreneMcKay about Raffles Gateway Hotel

The Raffles Gateway Hotel is literally 2 minutes walk from Nadi Airport. If you don't want to walk or have a lot of luggage, then you can use its free shuttle service.

We stayed in the Raffles on our first and last day in Fiji.

On our first stay we arrived at the hotel around 9 in the morning. Hours before official check in time. We thought at least they'll take our bags and we can come back later, but they checked us in and we were allocated a room in around 15 minutes. This was excellent news as we were really tired after a 10 hour flightfrom Hong Kong.

The room was clean and comfortable. It had a seating area at one end and bedroom area at the other. It had its own balcony overlooking the well kept and colourful grounds of the Raffles Hotel. Our second room at the end of our stay had a seating area in the hotel gardens.

Both rooms had a TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The washroom had a shower, but no bath. The only problem with the room was that the in-room safe did not work and this also happened in the room we stayed in on our last day. However, you can leave valuables at reception.

The Raffles has a small rectangular pool near its bar and restaurant and a much bigger resort style pool with a water slide in its grounds. There was a jacuzzi next to the small pool.

We ate in the restaurant by the small pool in the evenings and found the food good and the service pleasant and friendly. They have a guitarist/singer in the evenings to entertain their guests. We also had some very enjoyable lunches and drinks by the pool.

The hotel was relaxing, quiet and peaceful. We were not disturbed by the airport nearby at all.

There is local transport available on the road outside the Raffles or you can travel around by taxi. If you are flying on to another area of Fiji or catching a coral sun bus to another part of Fiji, the Raffles is a good location, though you probably would not spend your whole holiday here as it is a fair way out of the main town. The hotel does have a desk where you can book day trips to other parts of Fiji such as the Mamanucas.

A very relaxing and pleasant location. Very handy for the airport. As we were not on-line in Fiji we walked back to the airport to check any changes of onward flights. Also very useful when you have an early morning departure.

Very handy and good hotel

by Robmj about Raffles Gateway Airport Hotel

This hotel is great, it has good facilities, its well priced and its very handy to Nadi's airport. Excellent for when you first arrive or are leaving, you can just walk across the road and you are at the airport. There are not enough flights to trouble you with noise. Great pool area, great restaurants and bar area with very friendly staff.

Fiji Township of Nadi

by 1maxi

Can anyone tell me if there is much to do in the Fiji township of Nadi? Is there a place to go shopping or perhaps any good restaurants to have dinner at?

As far as shopping is concerned what sort of things can you buy?

Planning on spending last few hours of trip from Island in Nadi prior to flight home. Not sure if the Township is worth exploring....

Any advice would be great!!!

Nadi is just a small town. Not much but enough to spend a few hours before your flight home. The main street has all the souvenirshops, internetcafe's, supermarket etc etc.

The backstreets close to the foodmarket are shadier with tiny shops but much nicer and a lot ! cheaper than the ones on the main street.

The foodmarket is nice to see and just next to the supermarket accross the foodmarket on the left is a very nice and cheap Indian restaurant ! Very cheap and delicious.

Town - Certainly better then sitting in Nadi Airport.

That said I have spent many hours sitting in Raffles Gateway Hotel - just outside the airport entrance and about 3mins walk from terminal building. Great for a drink and food not bad... also they have a pool there which you could use.
