Nadi Airport - waiting for the flight home
Hi,
I am travelling to Fiji for 7 nights in September and fly into Nadi. I am travelling with my girlfriend and want to stay in a double room in a hostel.
Does anyone know of any good hostels near a nice beach? Also we would like to stay about 3 of the nights in another island, can someone reccomend a different island? I presume you can take day trips to variuos other islands. We were going to island hop everyday but now think it would be better to relax in one of two places.
Also what will the weather be like end of September?

In Nadi: Smugglers Cove Beach Resort (not the best beach, but boats to Mana island etc. leave from there) or Vakaviti at Coral Coast in Korotogo, 6 kilometres from Sigatoka Town (about 2 hour by bus from Nadi airport)
The temperature throughout September averages around 28-30degrees Celcius, and you will be there during the non-cyclone season, so a good time to travel. The best beaches to be found in Fiji are on the islands. I assume that as you are only there for a week, your best bet would be to head out to one of the Mamanuca Islands, just off Nadi. Most of the boat transfers that service these islands operate out of the Denarau Marina area in Nadi. The beaches around Nadi are average; however, there are numerous hostels around the Wailoaloa beach area in Nadi which offer good budget accommodation for backpackers and are on the beach. Namely the Club Fiji resort, Nadi Bay resort and Smugglers cove, all in the Wailoaloa area. This area is a 10 minute drive from Nadi town, 15 min to Denarau marina and is less than 10 minutes from Martintar, which is where you will find alot more hostels. This strip along Queens road has good restaurants,cafes, and a few good bars. If you are up for a good/loud time, head to Ed's Bar or Ice bar, both within walking distance of each other, along this strip. Alternatively, you could head to the Coral coast area, about an hour and 20 min from Nadi airport.(Coral sun buses run numerous transfers daily directly from Nadi airport to hotels on the Coral coast).The nicest beach on the Viti levu mainland would be at Natadola beach.(coral coast), however, the
Fiji Intercontinental Spa Hotel has just recently opened here, hence not too many "budget"options on this beach. Crusoe's retreat, the Wellesley are 2 quieter options for accommodation- Hideaway resort, the beachouse hotel(more backpacker market) might be more up your alley, all located along the coral coast. Beachcomber island is a fun party island-namely 18-35 yr olds, but great for the price and perfect for a couple of days, great water sports, blue waters and white sand. Hey, I am also travelling to fiji alone in sept. flight arrives from Canada to Nadi, on the Sept 7th what days are you travelling?
The Fijian people are so friendly but don't try to do something like get married here... you may never see your wedding certificate, like us.
Management leaves a lot to be desired!
Nice for a holiday if you don't have high expectations of service.
