What a wonderful place to go on holidays with young children. The staff are so happy and love children. Their wonderful smiles every day made us feel welcolmed and there was no pressure in buying things so you do buy as there is no pressure. Resort activities are well organised and the fire dancers in the evenings were wonderful to watch. Then settle down at the bar with the ocean in the back ground listening to wonderful music and singing. The grounds and pools are kept absolutley spotless. Booking trips through the resort was worth while. We were going to book on a different island day trip but on their advice with to the South Sea Island and had the best day ever. Once again the staff on the island were very good with children. Our rooms were clean and maintained every day and we chose to to include the breakfast package with our trip and the food was great. I would recommend this resort to anyone that wants to expreience relaxations and pleasure. We'll be back Denarau

Unique Quality: Has beutiful views and is close to Denarau Marina which is also a great shopping place and dining area. Grounds and pools are kepts extremely clean.
The best quality is the friendly and helpful staff. Moce to the staff, we'll miss your smiling faces.

Pretty nice resort . I stayed in one of the chalet, room was clean and neat pretty much like any international class resort.

Unique Quality: Great swimming pool and they have the nightly fire lighting ceremony in the evening.
    Pretty impressive fire dance.

  • Would not bother returning

Right from the check in things did not go right. Took over an hour to get throught the check in, and then was told as he pointed your room is down there. Yeh sure took anothe half hour and still could not find it. Went back to reception and he finally showed us , so one and a half hours later we were in our room. Nothing flash for the price we paid, breakfast was included, but very basic unless u like a Champayne with your breakfast. Checking out was quicker than the check in, but I sent my husband up early to check out just in case. They quoted me a price including taxes, then charge me for taxes and whatever else they chose to do, when I questioned them, they would not listen to me, they already had my money, so the check out proved to be another bad process. Would I return DEFINately Not

  • Don't waste your money!

We stayed there for two nights during our honeymoon and it was an absolute disappointment. We couldn’t wait to leave. We had to change rooms twice. The first time was because the room safe wasn't properly set and we couldn’t get the balcony door to open. We were upgraded to another room but that was worse. The knob for the fan switch was broken, so we had problems turning it on and off. The telephone in the bathroom had wires sticking out all over the place (not to save if you’re taking a bath!). A piece from one of the facets in the bathroom fell off when we turned on the water. A hanger in the closet was broken. There weren’t batteries in the TV remote control so we couldn’t watch TV. Our neighbors had a party in their room from 2:30am-4:00am. We called the front desk to complain about the noise 3 times, but nothing happened. I had to go directly to the front desk at 3:45am to complain. The next day we were upgraded to ANOTHER room (suite). That was a lot nicer, but one of the tiles in the shower peeled off and I ended up cutting my foot. Don’t be deceived by the nice pictures and the name of the hotel. I’m sure there are better places.

    Traditional Style

If you want the benefits of an upmarket hotel but with traditional styling, stay at the Sheraton Royal. As is typical of their other resorts in Denarau, they have both beachfront and garden view rooms. Currently they are in the process of upgrading both the beach front and delux garden view rooms, equiping them with the lastest telephone, television and stereo equipment, new bathrooms but maintaining their traditional style.

Great honeymoon break

by TripAdvisor Member Alex&Stephen

We went to the Westin Denarau Island resort and spa for the last leg of our honeymoon. Having read some of the negative feedback it's amazing they are talking about the same place!

We had a wonderful time, a stunning room which was cleaned immaculately every day. The beach is not like they are on the islands but then that is balanced out by the benefits of staying at a resort.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The spa facilties are also fab! The treatments are not the cheapest but again, what you would expect from a resort. We would definitely go back!

Best of the Sheraton's by far

by TripAdvisor Member simonebb

Before we left Melbourne, I reviewed this website for some guidance as I had paid and booked for Sheraton Fiji Resort and then heard bad reviews. Upon reading these reviews and discussing with travel agent friends and their clients comments we upgraded to the Westin Resort and boy are we glad we did!

We found this resort to be modern and updated after the revamp. The foyer and rooms are exactly as per their website photos. The fact that the vanities and shower/bath and toilet was seperate from each other made it easier t both get ready in the morning. The big king heavenly beds were very comfortable and housekeeping did an amazing job keeping room neat and topping up towels during evening as well as in the morning.

The breakfast buffet selection was great and the Steakhouse Restaurant for dinner is a must. The pool was lovely and the bar overlooking th pool was a relaxing place to sit. Mini bar was pricy but it is a Sheraton. They have a general store here which is reasonable so you can buy drinks there and stock your own mini bar. Also buy a phone card from here to make your international calls from the foyer as then very reasonable costs unlike if you use the room phone!

The best thing about staying here is the resort facilities are excellent and for us, it was quieter than the other Sheraton Resorts which is what we wanted. We wanted to escape the world and not join it however you do have use of all the other 2 Sheraton facilities and restaurants if you wish. The Blue Vono Restaurant at Sheraton Fiji is very reasonable. Before you go, enquire about getting a Starwood Priveledge card where you can get great food discounts.

Was very disappointed with the Japanese Restaurant here and thought that the price and food was very ordinary however, although it is one the Westin premises it is not a part of the Sheraton banner.

The staff were excellent and I can honestly say that we enjoyed our experience here. The Service Express tried to resolve any problems/queries that we had and they always called back to check that the issue had been fixed or that housekeeping had been with the extra towels/hangers etc that we requested.

A lovely feel to this resort and would come back again.

Lacked the finer details

by TripAdvisor Member ci1705

We stayed for 5 nights and overall it's the best of the Sheraton properties on Denarau. The rooms are lovely and refurbished, we had a ground floor, would suggest top floor as you always had people walking past your room/patio, but the bahtroom looked like it hadn't been refurbished. The new shower head was put in (just) but it was in a bath and it was very very plain.
Housekeeping sometimes didn't make up our room until after 2pm ( I had to call them) and turn down sometimes only came at 9pm! Top floor rooms are all called deluxe and have Bvlgari products, celing fans and BOSE surround sound systems, plus you don't have to listen to the people walking around above you.

Food is VERY expensive but we spoilt oursleves at Port O Call (Sheraton Fiji Resort) one night and it was truly amazing. It was so romantic and intimate.

Beach is best to be avoided, sand is almost black, and water colour uninviting. My tip is go the adults only pool, there's usually no one there.

the worst service

by TripAdvisor Member fitkiwi

sloppy check-in , followed by slow service. Dirty floors in the rooms, came in to the room at 3pm to find the cleaners sitting cross legged on our beds chatting away-not a good look! The worse service I've experienced

by TripAdvisor Member bradnz

My partner and I stayed here for three nights as a treat at the end of Gold Coast holiday. We had issues right from when we arrived. We checked in to find out their computer systems were down and couldn't get a room key. Also our room wasn't ready (at 4pm) so they told us to go to the bar and we would have two drinks on the house which we were later billed for. We had to wait for the bell-boy with the master key card to take us to our room. When we got there it was the wrong room type (two double beds instead of one king - how romantic, NOT!). After going back to reception they said there wasn't anything they could do with no computers and to put up with it for tonight and come back tomorrow. This was unacceptable for such a short stay. When we complained it took the manager 45 mins to get us into the correct room which ended up being the room next door! This was at 9pm, five hours after we arrived.
Food and drinks in restaurants, mini bar, room service was VERY expensive so make sure you plan for this. We also had another bad experience with room service which I won't go into.
We wrote a letter and handed it to the manager on check out requesting a written reply. Four weeks later we are still waiting.
Overall the hotel was nice and modern. No snorkling at the beach and swimming didn't seem too desirable either. Also, the pool was FREEZING so we didn't get to swim much :-(
Would possibly consider going back again... but would rather try the Sofitel or Hilton next time.

On arrival we learnt that this facility was not luxurious or tranquil, with no white sandy beach or coral reef (as shown on their website)! On our first morning we were woken at 6.30am from the chants and screams of a Volleyball game out the front of our room. The noise from screaming children and large groups of people continued throughout the day.

The only reflection of The Westin’s standard décor was the bed, linen and pillows, which were the highlight of our stay. However the bathrooms were tired and in major need of renovation.

The food was not of International standard, which is how it was described. It was plain, unimaginative and over priced. The quality of the wine list was very poor and overpriced for what was offered, which was minimal.

We were so disappointed and frustrated that we left half-way through our stay!

food where oh where???

by PeppereppeP

The other half and I are finally heading to Fiji at the end of next week for two weeks of doing little else but laze in the sun and sip cocktails. But we are also big on food. We can't wait to try the local cuisine. A quick search here only came up with McDs and steaks. Does anyone have tips on where we can eat preferably around where we are staying? It does not matter if it's cheap or expensive as long as it is authetic, delicious local cuisines. We are staying at the Westin Denarau (I think it was previously the Sheraton).

Thank you in advance!!!

The Westin Denarau it self offers 5 different restaurants/lounges with local food, steakhouse and japanese restaurant. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
