Resort luxury off shore
by cehansen about Vatulele
Luxury unparalled. Over 100 staff to wait on a maximum of 18 guests. Everything you need is provided, meals are fantastic, even your laundry is done for you.
This is the place to go for the special romantic getaway. 16 Bures - no air conditoning, no TV, no Phones! But...these are not rustic, you have everything you need.
No swimming pool, but the beach is amazing, warmer water than a pool anyway and crystal clear. An abundance of tropical fish to see when snorkelling just off-shore and scuba diving offered too.
If you just can't live without airconditioning, there are two luxury bures - the Point and Vale Viqi.
Amazing sunsets and just a fabulous place to stay.

"Bula!"
Bula! (welcome in Fijian!)
The island of Vatulele welcomes you by private plane or helicopter to it's beautiful island located 25 minutes from the main airport in Nadi. It's "bures" are situated on white sand beaches and offer ultimate privacy and comfort.
Warm and wonderful

One hour to get ready he said...and 45 minutes later we were on our way to the airport on a "mystery" 25th wedding anniversary trip.
Flying business class on Air NZ to Nadi and then to the Hilton resort and spa at Denerau, I enjoyed this surprise...and there was more to come.
Next day a 25 minute charter flight to Vatulele, a jewel of an island south of Viti Levu. See my pages on this - the most fantastic holiday and i did't have to do a thing, no planning, no cooking, no laundry! Just enjoy the relaxation of a perfect holiday and the company of a wonderful husband.

Eloping in Fiji
by Cornpopgirl
My boy and I are looking at traveling to Fiji in mid August to elope. We're planning our trip to be 6 10 11 days long, possibly island hope to Austrailia or Tahaa after our stay in Fiji. Can anyone suggest a resort other than Turtle Island for those that are getting wed/honeymooners? So far with our research we're considering Namale Resort or Maravu Plantation. Thank you so much in advance :)

You have probably long ago stopped checking for a reply. But, there are a TON of resorts in Fiji that are geared towards weddings/honeymooners. This is a VERY incomplete list, but places that come to mind are: Yasawa Isl. Resort, Royal Davui, Wakaya, Katafanga, Yaukove, Vatulele, Dolphin Island, Beqa Lagoon, Hannibal's, Lalati, Jean-Michel Cousteau, Kulu Bay, Matagi, Vomo Island, Tokoriki, Navini, Moody's Namena.
I think there's a big difference in what places offer, whether there are activities, how secluded (private island), etc. and that is all a matter of preference.

My wife and I got married on matamanoa island. A quick hop from Nadi. LOVED IT!! We honeymooned at Maravu... beautiful but boring. If you are into white sand beaches and less rain stay on the western side of fiji. Lots of great, small boutique resorts. Definitely take a helicopter from Nadi to your resort if you can. It is worth the extra money.

Thanks for the advice. We are so up in the air right now about destinations. We're considering just having a small ceremony and going to Bora bora. I know everyone goes there for their HM, but then I can at least check it off my list. I'd love to go to Bali but was thinking something more beachy.

Navini Island has the best snorkeling I have done in Fiji. I have been to Fiji numerous times. I have been to the Yasawas, Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Beqa, and Vatulele island groups.
For snorkeling off shore Navini all the way!

Hello,
I can suggest Nananu i Ra island, a small island on the north coast of Viti Levu. The island is only 5 km away from the main island so boat transfers are quite cheap. Then you have a couple of backpackers on the island. You can check the lonely Planet about them. I chose Safari Lodge, it was cool, you can snorkel directly from the beach or the hotel can arrange a boat for you to go snorkelling on beautiful reefs.
Honeymoon in Fiji - ConFUseD about where to stay??
by micmik
Hi,
Planning a 7D/6N honeymoon in Fiji in mid Jun 09, with 3N in Westin (main island) + 3N in one of the islands (eg Beqa Island). Qn:
1. Read about the bad weather back in Jan. Should I still be concerned about any impact on hotel/transport in Jun?
2. Any comments on Lalati Resort? www.lalatifiji.com
3. Any must-do / must-eat?
Thanks!!!
