I definitely would recommend this hotel, one of the finest I have had the pleasure of staying at. The food, however, is outrageously expensive, so we recommend using your refrigerator in your room and go to the local market (quick boat ride away) and stock up on local bread (but get there early 'cause it goes fast), cheese, fruit and we used coconut ice cream for our coffee. If you are a coffee addict bring a travel pot and coffee because all you get there is Folger's crystals There is a restaurant and a bar on the Motu. Guests who stay here have privileges at the sister hotel, Sofitel Marara where there is a pool, water activities, tennis, shopping and beachfront restaurant with a bar. Some of the rooms are over the water bungalows; ours had a great view of Mount Otemanu. Others are up on the hillside or on the beach. They all have A/C, satellite TV and computer modems.
The hotels were orignially built by Dino de Laurentis for his movie "Hurricane". Although the movie flopped, the property did not. Over the water bungalow on small island. You can walk down your steps and into the ocean to go snorkeling. There is a hole in floorr covered by plexiglass, at night you can turn on a light and watch the fish swim by. I have not stayed at the Club Med in Bora Bora, nor will I. Here's why: Several years ago after many cyclones destroyed the original Club Med, they relocated to their present location and just left the old resort to ROT and DECAY. No clean up, no recycling of materials. Just abandon and walk away. Out of sight, out of mind. You can still see the ruins on the road that goes from Farepiti Point. For this reason alone I will not patronize a Club Med. Theme: Hotel

by Bilimari Bora Bora Dive Resort has 9 "Tahitian style" bungalows with 3 on the water. It's run by Top Dive (see my sport tip). A perfect place to stay during your diving trip. The restaurant, Kon Tiki (see my restaurant tip) at the resort is one of the best French Polynesian style restaurants on the island. The room was comfortable with large bed (mattress was a little too hard for me), desk, sofa, and table. Bath/shower, and separate toilet all in your room. Nice deck over the water. It's air conditioned, but we really didn't need to use it in early April. But be aware, if you leave the door or a window opened, you'll have some visitors such as lizard and crab. :) A family of puff-fish lived under our deck. I tried to feed them, but they weren't interested. By the way, there's no TV (some rooms have), radio, not even a clock in a room. It's the best way to spend your vacation. (There are several outlets for electricity in a room, if you must listen to iPod, etc.) Theme: HotelPrice: US$180 and up » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Vaitape, Bora BoraPhone: +689-605050Directions: The resort is about 10min walk from the city center where all the gift shops are. Our room by Helga67 In the room we had a glass viewing table from where you could see the fish swimming in the water below. At night, there's even a light shining underneath your bungalow, so you can see the fish. On the terrace, there are steps providing direct access into the lagoon and a shower on the landing below the terrace. Le Maitai Hotel by Helga67 We stayed in this hotel during our trip in 2004 and had a great time. It's a rather new hotel which opened in 1998. They have rooms with garden or ocean view, 7 beach bungalows, 19 overwater bungalows and 10 villa suites. The reception desk, Haere Mai Restaurant and Manuia Bar are located under one huge woven pandanus roof on one side of the street. One the other side of the street, you will find the beach and overwater bungalows together with the Tama'a Maitai restaurant.
From the moment you arrive at the hotel, you will be welcomed by a smiling Tahitian hostess, who offers you a refreshing fruit punch cocktail and gives you all the necessary information about the hotel. Le Maitai Hotel by Helga67 Our overwater bungalow had a ceiling fan but no air-conditioning. But as you are so close to the water, you don't really need one. The room was furnished with a king-size bed, writing desk, blackout curtains, television, mini-bar, fridge, personal safe, shower with massage nozzle, hair dryer, extension mirror and full length mirror in the bathroom and sliding glass door onto a private terrace. Overwater bungalow by Helga67 The overwater bungalows are all built in the traditional Polynesian style, with thatched roofs and woven pandanus walls. For our 10th wedding anniversary, we wanted something special, and I can assure you, an overwater bungalow is the best thing you can get on Bora Bora. Although it's quite pricey, I do recommend it to every romantic soul, even if it is just for one night. Overwater Bungalows by nicolettart I think everyone should stay in one of these at least once, although it can be very expensive and it is said that the construction of the overwater huts are damaging the reefs. I loved being able to snorkel right off the deck, and at night being lulled to sleep by the gentle sound of the water. It is not air-conditioned, but you don't really need it because you catch a breeze off the lagoon. The glass in the floor under the coffee table allows you to see the fish swimming underneath, especially fascinating at night when a light under the bungalow illuminates the activities of the fish. The bungalows are accessible by wooden footbridges and you can also canoe to your bungalow. by wickedwax Amazing resort. Service was awesome -- all of the staff was very friendly. The food at the restaurants was great. We got an overwater bungalow, which was quite expensive, but well worth it. Highly highly recommended if you're willing to spend the money.
Awesome views of the main island from your bedroom. The Pearl Beach is on its on Motu and is more secluded than the resorts on the main island. And its still easy to get to the main island as the hotel has boats to take you back and forth for free.
