Hotel Matira on Bora Bora. It was about a quarter mile down the beach from the Hotel Bora Bora, yet their rates were about 1/3 those at Hotel Bora Bora. We had a cottage 15 feet from the water on a beautiful white sand beach. In 1988 we paid about $100. per nightin U.S. dollars. |

Becahcomber Intercontinental in Bora Bora. For one night depending on the time of year you are looking at anywhere from 450 a night to well over 600 a night US dollar. This hotel is wonderfull for familys and couples alike. When they finish there renovations it will be even better with the addition of a pool and more overwater bungalows. They have a great resturant on site and the snorkleing is unbeliveable. |

We stayed at Le Meridian on Tahiti but visited the Park Royale (Intercontinental) which was very rundown looking and the swimming pool had been drained. The Sofitel Ia Ora on Moorea was the best place we stayed on our 3 island tour. The one place where the service was almost friendly, the food a notch better and a tad cheaper. Great snorkeling. |

The Sheraton is a wonderful facility. We also previewed the Beechcomber and it is very nice as well. There are three types of rooms including over water bungalows. Be sure to get an ocean view - it is worth it. There is a workout area across the street from the main facility. It is up to date, but not air conditioned, so the best time for use is early in the AM while it is cooler. |

Moorea is much cheaper to stay than Tahiti, and I think nicer. You can find these little huts right on the beach for such a ridiculous price... it is not a resort so it is even better. Only cons is the club med next beach which pollute the lagoon with jetskis and other boats, which is a bit dangerous when snorkelling. And the welcome is not so friendly..but who cares for a good deal! There is also dormitories and a camping site available. I won't recommand the last one as Mooréa is a tropical place, it is rainning almost everynight (a lot). Shared kitchen very clean; possiblity to rent bikes, close to shops and restaurants. |
