MOOREA
by swesn about CHEZ NELSON
Pros :
- One of the cheapest option in Hauru Point, near to Le Petit Village, the shopping centre and restaurants area, which has a supermarket.
- Many toilets and showers available
- Huge kitchen and dining room facilities
Cons :
- No lockers, but with just two persons to a dorm, it is NOT THAT BAD
- No fan. If you leave the window open, it can be very breezy at night. But then, there will be mozzies.
- Beach in front is very narrow and not that great. Head to the wider and prettier beach in front of Hotel Les Tipaniers. Beaches appear to be open for everyone so you need not be a guest.
Dorms : 1300 French Polynesian Francs (1050 French Polynesian Francs = US$10)

Les Tipaniers, in Moorea

There is a good selection of Italian cuisine and local seafood. The prices were reasonable and the service was terrific. Mahi Mahi with vanilla bean sauce.
Don't Miss The Fresh Seafood!
by easyoar about Les Tipaniers
Les Tipaniers is a restaurant bolted on to a hotel of the same name. They do excellent fresh fish - a Polynesian speciality. The Polynesian deserts are great too with fresh fruit cooked in various ways.
By Polynesian standards the prices are quite reasonable too.
Service was very friendly, but we did find we had to wait a long time to be served. Fresh Fish!

Accomodations proximity to shops/restuarants??
by alison626
I am planning a trip with family and friends to Moorea and would like to get some information to help me make some final decisions.
Based on our needs (kitchen, 2-3 people per bungalow) and our budget I have narrowed it down to Les Tipaniers and Linareva Inn. Linareva’s accommodations seem better suited for our group but Les Tipaniers seems to have a better beach and be closer to shops, groceries, other restaurants and general activities.
Is the Linareva Inn that isolated?? What can you walk/ride a bike to from there?
It seems that Les Tipaniers is closer to the action, but not having been been there before I’m just curious what we’re talking about?
How many restaurants within walking/biking distance?
What groceries are within walking/biking distance?
Near by bike/car/scooter rentals?

Hi, sorry for the delay in responding but I only just discovered this forum.
Linareva is indeed quite isolated, with only a Daniel's Pizza within walking distance. And the floating restaurant there, Le Bateau, has recently been closed and dismantled.
Les Tipaniers has a nice but small beach, and is within a 5-15 minute walk to Le Petit Village, a small shopping center with a grocery store, shops, and restaurants. Along the way (5-minute walk) is a cybercafe (at Photo Magic) and Irene Restaurant, Le Motu Snack, and several other places to eat and shop. There is also an excellent beach-side restaurant at Les Tips, open for breakfast and lunch, and a roadside restaurant open for dinner.
A new pension has recently opened, bungalows with kitchen bungalows, at the Old Moorea Village location, which is also on a white sandy beach and within easy walking distance to grocery stores, shops, and restaurants. It is called Fare Moorea Miti, has 8 kitchen bungalows fully equipped, and has bigger, airier, and less expensive bungalows, each sleeping up to 4-5 people, than Les Tips. The beach is bigger at Fare Moorea Miti, and you would be directly facing the beautiful sunsets, while Les Tips faces more northward. Fare Moorea Miti is also within a 5-15 walk to the same stores and shops as Les Tips, but from the other direction, a bit south of Les Tips. Check my travel review on Fare Moorea Miti at www.tripadvisor.com
Hope this helps!
