Happy Isles

To the flower market. The tropical flowers and huge slabs of red tuna is a great sight. Just walking around Papeete and people watching is great too. The women wear wonderfully large pieces of jewelery made from beautiful shells and everyone seems to float on air! It's astounding beauty.
Public Market

The Marché Municipale (public market) is the heart of Papeete. It's a very colourful market that you should not miss on your tour around the city. Here you can find local fruit, vegetables, flowers, fish, meat but also locally made products and souvenirs.
Only One Hour In Tahiti! No Fair!
by AKtravelers
We stopped in Papeete on our way to New Zealand one hour. That entire hour was spent in a security line so that our bags could be screened and we could reboard the plane. So, essentially the best part of Tahitit for us was the landing of the plane. As we descended on our flight from Los Angeles, the sun was rising over the jagged peaks, the sea breezes were gently nudging the palm fronds and over-water thatched huts were just stirring with waking exhuberant tourists. The tropical sunrise was beautiful. AS we walked to the plane, a tatooed woman gave us a small flower and I snapped this picture. After that, Tahiti was all a waiting game for us. We hope there's more to Tahiti than this!
