Queensland caravan parks and touring accomodation: QLD caravan parks and touring accomodation

by tropicrd

Hi--I agree with Lynnehamman.I would start in Cairns-that way you are more likely to avoid the wet season and being flooded in or out up north--even though there are long stretches of driving there are lots of places you can visit off the highway.Tully,Mission Beach,Cardwell,Ingham,Townsville,Bowen a town south of Townsville is worth a visit.Whitsundays and Airlie Beach,Macay,
Hervey Bay with lots of little towns along the way but off the main highway.
Lots of backpacker and camping areas along the way--that time of the year shouldn't be a problem as it isn't school holidays. Then continue your trip to Brisbane and onto Melbourne. You can get in touch with this website for touring accomodation and caravan parks on--
www.caravanqld.com.au

This is a well described caravan and touring accomodation which has maps, costs, and facilities in all regions of queensland.
Most campers and caravaners use it as their bible.
It is updated every year.
Costs vary for sites but most are around the $20 --$25 for a powered site.

Palace Backpackers Hostel: backpackers accomodation in Brisbane City Centre

by mavis77

If your looking for comfortable but budget accomodation in Brisbane we stayed at the Palace Backpackers Hostel ('People's Palace') in the Brisbane city, which was $26 a night for a 6 bed mixed shared room, but they also had single rooms. It was a very friendly place, with the centre of Brisbane only about a minutes walk away. (The transit centre is also that close with trains and buses). They have a lovely rooftop with tables and bbqs etc up there and the 'Down Under Bar' is directly underneath. ($2 shots for ladies!) We still had a good nights sleep though..! A very comfortable place to stay.

Rooftop access with many backpackers hanging out there, clean rooms, bedding provided, cutlery and crocery for a deposit, many Clubs and Pubs short walk away, with a very rocking one directly underneath the backpackers - 'The Down Under Bar', walking distance to all the best shops in Brisbane, markets on the weekends, cafes and outdoor shows/ festivals at Southbank Park. The Tresury Casino is also right there in the Queen Street Mall (the main shopping strip). Basically, if you stay here you are within walking distance to most of Brisbane's best attractions!

Werri Beach Holiday Park: Scenic Beachfront Holiday Park

by AusPinay

This holiday park is not surprisingly very popular as it is beachfront and I have made sure we get a truly beachfront cabin.

We were not disappointed! We could hear the waves at our balcony and we could even see the picturesque sand dunes and of course the ocean waves! The only downside was the weather- it was too windy, sunny but still cool. However this did not stop the boys from going to the beach! I was happy enough to enjoy the spectacular waves and the lovely views as far as the eyes could see! It was October, start of spring school holiday and this part of the south coast was really cold and windy but still magical.

Our self contained cabin has two bedrooms, with tv, well stocked kitchen (for utensils and appliances), not that I cooked often! We have a spa in the bathroom though the kids always enjoy playing at the resort's pool and games room. There is als oa kids' club which the boys joined once just for a fedw hours and then the remaining days they decided they were too old for the activites!

There is also a good kiosk/cafe for lovely steak rolls/sandwiches, meat pies, ice cream, etc. We had a most enjoyable and relaxed stay in this place!

Our two bedroom cabin aptly called BEACH HOUSE was everything (almost) we could wish for- self- contgained accommodation with a good size fridge, microwave, oven, stovetop and all the utensils and cooking equipment, plus there is a spa/jacuzzi in thje huge bathroom.

I said almost as we were hoping to have wireless coverage for our laptops, hubby and I both took ours to this trip! At least the kids can still watch movies in the computer's DVD. The cabin has a moderate sizde tv and we were able to borrow for free some movies we have not seen before from the resort's reception. Sadly, there was no wireless coverage around there.

There are also no Mac Donalds in town or any other fast food chain.

Lakefront Motel, Entrance North: Lakefront Accommodation, close to beaches, fishing

by AusPinay

It was a pleasant stay, the place was close to our favourite fishing grounds and the beaches along the central coast, at the Entrance.

We booked a couple of nights in January, still during the school holidays and also during the Easter holidays. We love coming to this area as there are restaurants, cafes and other amenities nearby like picnic sites, not to mention our favourite fishing spots.

The hosts/owners are a couple and a business partner so the service is homestyle and personalised. It is like having a vacation with the comforts of home thrown in. Our unit upstairs had two bedrooms with queen sized beds, there is a full kitchen with a fullsized fridge unlike other places where the fridge is so tiny you can hardly fit in an average sized water bottle! The bathroom has a spa/jacuzzi as well.

The room service for our brekky and dinner was good too. Food was tasty and the servings are generous. My son and I always just share a main meal like the lasagne which came with hot vegies as well, good enough for the two of us. The burgers are good too. Brekky was the usual bacon, eggs, sausages ,baked beans sort of stuff but the servings are really big!

There are also sachets of coffee, sugar and tea and we got a good size milk in tetrapak unlike the little portions most hotels/motels give out.

The location is also another asset of this place, despite being near the main road, it was not as noisy at night. The rooms are a bit old but clean and very homely and gives that cottagey feel!

Australis Diamond Beach Resort: Luxury Resort Without the High Cost and Crowds

by AusPinay

This resort at Diamond Beach, around one and a half hours from the city centre of Sydney is paradise! We got our accommodation off the internet and availed of a very good tariff of $120 per night for the four of us (2 a & 2 k) for a two bedroom, two bathrooms cabin which is huge! The cabin has 2 LCD tvs, fully self-contained with a kitchen well- stocked with utensils and the usual cooking appliances- stove, oven, microwave, etc. I couldn't believe the amenities were truly more than we have expected for the price. It also has a washing machine and separate dryer, iron, etc. It is like a real home set amongst lovely bush views and the beach of course which was the bonus!

We usually pay much more than this price in other resorts, but it was still a few days before the start of the school holidays so we had a bargain and a big blast of fun here without the high cost and the crowds.

It has two pools, one very new with heaps of things to do, kids' club during school holidays, spa, kids' clubhouse with their own tavble tennis, playstation and WIFI consoles, etc. There is also a play area for the little ones. Many more nice things about this superb place!

It is indeed a family resort!

It is uniquely waterfront so we could hear the waves from our balcony/porch and bedroom window! It was fantastic, a place I can recommend to anyone who wants peace and quiet, lovely views and no traffic! It is a good 15 minutes from the centre of Forster, which has all the restaurants.

Anyway, this place has a good restaurant/cafe which also has family packs and meals ready for take away to your cabin if you don't feel like eating out.

We spent most of our time going for walks at the beach and just soaking in the beach atmosphere without the crowds!

Palm Cove resorts

by tropicrd

I am a Cairns local and I have stayed at both of these places--I really liked the Mantra Amphora resort the best but it comes back to personal taste. Both are well located and both have a relaxing environment and great services. Palm Cove is a delightful area with an ambience of its own. Have a wonderful stay .

Great location,services and ambience

Hotel and more: Best Info & Tips Provider for Palau Travels

by Ursula-Jean

I travel once a year to the islands of Palau and this website has helped me with any latest news/tips I may need to know before heading to the islands.

They were able to provide photo-references to all hotels on the island. Also provided contact info to all tour operators and so I was able to directly book all my diving dates and tours, etc. for a much cheaper (and better:) deals.

Very resourceful and I continue to use them for my friends & others that seek better and reliable infos/deals to travel to Palau.

I had to stay in Guam for a day and they helped me out on this leg of the travel by providing info on accomodations close to the Guam airport, etc.

Check them out for any inquiries for your travel to Palau. They are right on the dot with all the infos they are able to provide.

Reef Palms Motel: A good place to stay

by CultusLake

I stayed at the Reef Palms motel on Digger Street. It was far enough away from the centre of town to provide a quiet stay. It had a nice small pool and the rooms were adequate. I booked this hotel on the net and had a quick response back and forth when I had questions. I would recommend this hotel to others. The staff is very helpful in suggesting activities and giving directions on where to go and what to see.

Punga cove lodge: The worst backpackers ever!

by rhet20

The service at Punga Cove was like what you might get in a Fawlty Tower’s episode but not at all funny.

My advice to anyone considering staying there would be don’t waste your money and don’t waste your holiday. Holiday’s are meant for relaxing and relaxing and Punga do not go hand in hand.

I booked for a group of people in the backpacker’s lodge well in advance. We were not told when we made the booking that we could not take alcohol onto the property and there was no indication on the website or in any other Punga propaganda that this was the case. But when we turned up with alcohol the owners made attempts to confiscate it. Basically they had decided that we were scum of the earth when in reality we were a group of accountants, librarians, Marketing Executives, Architects, small business owners and other assorted professionals.

Staff at Punga on the whole looked miserable and when you have 20 miserable staff you can safely assume that management is responsible. The staffing situation was in fact so bad we were scared to ask for anything. It was a different story across the bay at Furneaux where absolutely nothing was a problem for them, staff were cheerful and terms and conditions on entering the resort were clearly stated on the jetty.

It was really such a shame that the service level at Punga was non-existent because the location is absolutely fantastic and the facilities would be brilliant if maintenance was kept up (we found many of the facilities were broken so unusable). Under different ownership the place could be world class • right now it seems apparent the owners are just out to make a quick buck.

Beautiful location, stunning views but the worst customer service ever.

The owner's of this place are incredibly tight. The water ran out entirely on the 2nd day, no apology no nothing - it took them til 4pm that day to sort it out.

They kept the spa pool turned off to save money.

And there was even a shortage of toilet paper!
