I looked over the site iles-loyaute.com -- home -- your stay -- accomodation and I chose to stay in a tribal village. I clicked on Sama Discovery and I stood in the tribal house seen in their picture on the right.
Another great source of information is air-caledonie.nc -- ou loger?
To my surprise, the owner Gabriella Wassaumie speaks fluently English. She received a two years award to see and study tourism in Australia, on Golden Coast. She owns two thatched huts (fr. paillottes) on a larger property that belongs to her extended family and she prepares food. I ate a very good bougna, the traditional kanak food, made by her and her relatives.
This place is a great place to live in nature. It was full moon. Trees had shadows at night and I saw the stars on the austral sky. No danger there, friendly dogs.
Price: one night and two very good meals 4600 PF . Approximate Rate: 1 USD = 90 PF
The ship's air-conditioned cabin I stayed in was nice but basic. Nice place to rest from all the on board activities, and believe me there are heaps. Nice place to cool down, lay down and of course nice private place to sleep. My canbin had a toilet and shower, table and chairs, wardrobes, phone, dressing table, and beds... What more do you need to sleep, recharge the batteries ready for heaps more fun and excitement.....
I have attached a picture of a similar Pacific Sky cabin to mine.....
Some cabins are in-ward facing. I was lucky and booked an out-ward facing cabin, which ment I had a "port-hole", a window. Well worth having, highly recommended.
