Taxi or shuttle bus??
by Crystal.AKL
Hi
Can anyone work out the cheaper way for two people from northcote in north shore to Airport? Shuttle bus or Taxi??
Approximately how much will a taxi cost for this? Thanks in advance!!

why don't you call cab and shuttle companies and get quotes...i'm sure costs would have increased lately with fuel costs
Taxi or shuttle bus??

It will be by far cheaper to get a bus from Northcote to City, and then catch the Shuttlebus to the airport.
Some shuttles will collect you from the North Shore, this one quotes $60.

The Airbus, on the other hand, leaves from the Downtown Ferry Terminal at the bottom of Queen Street in the city, walking distance from Britomart, and quotes $15!!

An option which would cost you something in between taxi and bus/Airbus rates would be the SuperShuttle which would transport you from your accommodation on North Shore to the airport.

Travel Tips for Auckland
Fancy wearing off some extra weight?
by xuessium
Folks gearing to lose some weights after piling on the pounds while on holiday - look no further. The YMCA runs Tepid Baths in the city, and is open to the public for activities such as swimming with spa (not Olympic size though, the pool, not the spa) as well as for folks looking for a gym/fitness centre.
It is an old building but reasonably well maintained. It kinda remind me of the City Bath in Melbourne City and probably shares a similar history as a common public bath in the days long past.
You'll have to pay to go in of course, it's not free but the fee is manageable. As I was staying at the Sebel, I have complimentary discounted price entry and it was like NZ$4 for a swim. I think a full price entry will be something like NZ$9. With a spa thrown in, I think it's pretty much worth it.
Cornwall Park.
by worldkiwi
Cornwall Park is a sprawling farm park around Maungakiekie (One Tree Hill), in the suburb of One Tree Hill in Auckland.
It's a popular picnic, jogging, and walking spot with the locals. There is a nice cafe in the park and of course, you can drive to the summit of the multi-cratered and now oddly named One Tree Hill (Maungakiekie). The tree isn't there anymore.
Shakespeare Tavern and Brewery
by keeweechic
The Shakespeare Tavern has been a very popular pub over the years. These days its draws quite an eclectic crowd despite the traditional English-style and unpretentious decor. Usually its loud and casual and just a great place to hang out. It was the pioneer of the boutique-brewery industry. They brew their own beer on the premises, which is the attraction. They have seven regular brews and other specialities depending on the whim of the brewer. Apparently their ales are especially tasty. There is a bar downstairs with some tables and booths, a Casino bar on the 2nd Floor and a bar and café on the 3rd floor.
Open from 11.30am until late.
Whatever Your Taste - There's a Menu

There are many good areas where restaurants abound. You can just wander along Ponsonby Road, Parnell Road, the Viaduct Basin and take your pick of any cuisine or just let one of the many aromas you take in make the decision for you.
Parnell Village is found about 1.5 kilometres (1 mile) east of city centre. An entire suburb of Victorian timber cottages that have been preserved from developers.
Ponsonby Road is one of Auckland`s trendiest multicultural inner suburbs. The Viaduct area was developed for the America`s cup challenge and the influx of visitors to the area.
The king of Aquariums
by Assenczo
There was not much of time in Auckland, reduced by a tight schedule to a transit city. In this case the advice to follow was to go to the Aquarium as one of the more unconventional sights in Auckland. There is no question in my mind that this was the right choice. Especially when the scuba diving you might have envisaged did not materialise and you are under pressure to perform before your South Pacific trip has run out, the aquarium supplies you with everything you wished for. Afraid of the unpredictability of shark feed session? Not in this environment – you are safe behind the glass. Mind you, the sharks did not want to eat their lunch even though the master was practically hitting them with it on the snouts.

Q: Currency exchange in Auckland "Where can I change NZ currency in New Zealand?
Banks or money changer?"
A: "It might depend on what you want to change it FOR, that is, what currency you want to BUY with the NZ currency you are "selling"! Foreign currencies not onhand might have..."
