weather

by ohaiyo

I'll be traveling on both the North Island (Auckland) and the South Island (Christchurch, Greymounth, Queenstown, Milford Sound, Dunedin) in the last week of September and the first week of October. What would the weather be like?

Re: weather

by sabrepoint

Hi ohaiyo
Well just coming out of winter, so expect some (quite a bit actually) of rain. I know Auck well, and can rain there any time of year (but like most of NZ, late Jan to early Mar probably driest). Always rains in Greymouth and down west coast of South Island! (no, I guess they do have the odd dry day, but expect the worst!).

We can get occasional cold snaps (frosts away from coasts; snow inland and in high country) until early Dec, but mainly warm in North Island from Nov onwards. Right now, we have very mild weather for this time of year (I'm in tee-shirt) but will no doubt be back to sweater within next day or so!

So pack for showers and cold, but expect quite a few of warm periods to.

Best I can do. Good luck.

Yep, that about covers it. I never could write short answers.

Cold, cold and cold lol :-)

Actually we have very nice weather. Freezing cold at night, plenty of sunshine during the day. Some days ago they got 40cm of snow at the skifields of Queenstown, Wanaka and on Mt. Hutt :-)))

October is notorious for throwing a cold spell at us right when we think it's warming up . One thing is for sure, it won't be hot :-)

Hi there
I just read your question - i haven't been to NZ so don't know about the weather, but.... i am going to both the North Island and the South Island in September - October this year, are you doing a tour? if so which company - can i ask that question. i also have been wondering what the weather would be like so the answers have been great.
look forward to your response.
Kind regards.

Herne Bay - Pt Erin Park

by keeweechic

Point Erin Park is a small park leading off Herne Bay enroute to the Harbour Bridge approach. The area is the base of St Marys Bay cliffline. There is a playground and the Point Erin Baths. The park is also an area for dog exercising off their leashes.

The Link bus, environmentally friendly

by BurgerQueen

The LINK is a very cheap environmentally friendly bus (satisfying the Euro5 standards) that will lead you from the city centre to all the main touristic actractions in Auckland for 1.60NZ$!
I definitely do not suggest driving in Auckland, above all because parking could be very expensive, and the LINK is simply the best way to move around!

Malaysian Food.

by Robdaz about Malaysia Satay Restaurant

If a nice decorated place with some Malaysia kites and a nice bar .

This is the best Malaysian place I have visited in Auckland so far and has been back many times. The lunch menu is good value for money .

They have branches in Albany and Howick in Auckland. I have only visited the Northshore branch . The chicken or lamb curry with nun bread..yummy.

High Street

by Auckland_girl

One street back from Queen Street is High Street, it has great shops (more boutique than the ones on Queen Street) and lots of good cafes, bars and clubs. Try Lorne Street for more interesting shops and Vulcan Lane for great drinking spots (the Occidental Tavern especially)
