Hi,
came across Domain Lodge Auckland while I was doing searches for accommodation, I'm loking for somewhere quite, but fairly modern. Domain Lodge looks very nice, and I notice it has a connection with the Cancer Society, if you know of it or have stayed there, can I have your feedback please, leave a message on my homepage if you prefer, but any help would be good.

Right at the Domain is not a bad location, you just have to walk up the hill if you come from the city centre. It is about 2 km to Parnell, and about 1.5 km to Broadway in Newmarket - which is great for shopping. If you have a close look at the map you will see that you have to walk more or less around the Domain to get to Parnell. Parnell's main road with the romantic buildings are in Parnell Road, north of the intersection with Stephens Road.
However, the Link Bus which runs on a loop course through the city, Ponsonby, Newmarket and Parnell has a stop at the hospital. Also a lot of other bus lines pass there.
The connection of the Domain Lodge with the cancer society is just that they raise money for the fight against cancer with this. Starship Hospital is nearby. It has a cancer ward for children.
The Lantern Festival is held at the end of Chinese New Year and continues with the festivities. The timing of which varies each year depending on the moon of the particular lunar year. There are plenty of food stalls which allows you to have a picnic on the grounds if you wish.

The Waitakere Ranges National Park is only 20 km from the city centre. The park has 200 kms of walking tracks, lush green sub-tropical native rainforest, cascading waterfalls and rugged West Coast surf beaches.

Where I last lived in Auckland before I moved overseas, I had wonderful views of them from the back of my house... it wasn't far to take a leisurely Sunday drive through them as well.
I didn't go inside as my friends couldn't bare the cold. But I hope to return. It's a room refrigerated to -5deg C. the bar and the furniture are all made from ice.
The entry cost is $20 which includes the first cocktail drink. I gather the drinks after that are not cheap, but someone has to pay for the room!! (iced and all I mean!)
Minus 5 is in the Hewlett Packard building, white hexagonal and large. They give you Blizzard coats to wear, you can have sheepskin boots if you like too.
At Minus 5 deg Celcius, you need this clothing to keep you warm!
Angus Steak House (I don’t believe it has any association with the chain restaurants in London) – For $25 NZD, you can select your own meat, rather it is T-bone, top sirloin, filet mignon, or even lamb. While the cook is preparing your steak, you help yourself with the salad bar. The steak house claimed it has the world’s best steak. See for yourself.
Parnell is a great place for brunch, especially on a sunny morning. Needless to say, I indulged in my favourite dish, French Toast.
Strawberry Alarm Clock do that wonderfully and as I have eaten a lot of these particular bfasts, I feel adequately qualified to comment.
And I love cafés that keep brunch going for a decent part of the day. Oh and nice coffee too!!
