hey all, me and my fiance, are planning a trip to nz for our honeymoon in april2008.
we have kind of planned to visit the north as well as the south.
i have already posted a VTmeet in auckland.
would love to meet as many Kiwis as possible..cheers

Hi,
I think you need to confirm a date and make sure people are aware of the meeting. Don't be afraid to contact local members to let them know a meeting is planned. With regard to RSVP's generally people will add their names to your meetings list and you will be notified that this has happened. But some previously active Auckland region VTers are now overseas or busy with other things, and as I explained I can't guarantee being in Auckland at all that month just yet.
Stay positive - I'm sure you will get to meet some energetic kiwis!

Springs Speedway

The Western Springs speedway has been around in Auckland for 76 years and probably for most of that time it has been a bone of contention for the residences in the area. Unfortunately with the noise and their inability to comply with the noise limits, the speedway may one day be forced to close.
I certainly remember as a little girl being dragged along on Saturday nights by my older brothers (because they were made to) to see the speedway. It would be a shame to see it gone.
During the year the stadium hosts a maximum of three practice sessions, 20 races, and six concerts. Check out their website for dates of meetings.
The African Area

A section of the botanic gardens is dedicated to African Plants. Here you will see wonderful proteas, bird of paradise and ericas along with other succulents and bulbs.

Flying in from Australia and USA

Air New Zealand, Qantas, and United have the most flights from Australia and the USA. Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand and is most likely the point of entry you will use.
Since New Zealand is far away from everything, it is a good idea to look for discounted tickets or shop around as much as possible. Another thing to consider is making a trip out of a stopover. Most people I know that have been to New Zealand from the USA or Europe have used their stopovers as a 2 or 3 day stop to see another Pacific destination, such as Hawaii, Fiji, Tahiti, or L.A.

This is brassiere style food with 4 stylish up-market bars. A great varied menu is available which include seafood, lamb, salmon – to name but a few.
Parnell Village is found about 1.5 kms (1 mile) east of city centre.
Highly Recommend.

Victoria Park Market is a great place to get your gifts. I found the stuff on Queenstreet rather 'more of the same', so ended up at V.Market and got some really special gifts. It's not too big, but cosy and it has all you want for presents. Treat yourself!
