When I do not travel in our own car and do not start in Christchurch (where I live) Ace Cars have always been my favourite company:

They have a branch in Queenstown.

Just for your info, never heard of Omage. Plenty of mainstream firms from which you could choose, but more expensive I guess?

It's Omega, I assume. http://www.omegarentals.com/
Sorry don't know anything about them. I use MacDonalds as Jaap does :-)

Travel Tips for Auckland

Westhaven Marina

by keeweechic

Westhaven Marina is at the entrance to the Hauraki Gulf close to the Harbour Bridge. It is one of the largest and best equipped marinas in the Southern Hemisphere. Their facilities are world class and welcome all sizes of craft. Close to downtown Auckland, shopping malls and restaurants.

Lower Lake

by keeweechic

On the edge of the Lower Lake you will find the Women’s Suffrage Garden which commemorates the women’s movement as well as the Peace Garden which has been designed to commemorate the Hiroshima Bombing.

Auckland International Airport (AKL)

by dragontml

New Zealand’s largest and busiest airport. Most overseas visitors to New Zealand arrive here. It is located south-west of the city of Auckland in the suburb of Mangere. It is like a small town with shopping, service stations and all facilities.

The Mangere airport was officially opened in January 1966. It is situated 21km (14 miles) from Downtown Auckland City. The main International Terminal is known as The Jean Batten International Terminal Building after Jean Batten who was a pioneer New Zealand aviator in the 1920s and 1930s.

Portofino

by grkboiler about Portofino

Portofino is a very good Italian restaurant located at America's Cup Village off Custom St. West. It has outdoor dining and a great selection of pastas, pizza, and desserts. It is dress casual. It was full when I got there but I ate late, so I would recommend reservations. I had the veal parmaggiana and tiramisu. This was the best meal I had in Auckland.

Tennis Tip

by maranasca

If you enjoy tennis I highly recommend the Auckland Women Tennis Tournament late January. My sister and I were pleasantly surprised to run into such a nice facility and we were able to watch top players and quality matches. It also helped us get over our jet lag!
