Studing English
by aeroarce
I get to this city to learn English, andI get in Love with the people and its open mentallity. In this land Now body is from here and that makes it a very cosmopolitan and cultural center. you have asians, europeans, americans and Islands people, and as kiwi people say Prisioners went to Australian and Missioners came to New Zealand, that means that Maori where not reppressed as the Australians aborigins, and with Waitangi traty they signed a peace to live in peace. Understanding and Respect are the words for the people that lives here. Its views from any of its hills, and the good friends I made there.
Whangarei

Pronouced as ' Far-n-ga-ray '
Where the city meets the sea, that's where you'll find Whangarei, Maori translation for "Cherished Harbor", is sited on a tidal river just above the harbor.
A two hour drive north of Auckland, is this medium-sized, laid back city at the top of the North Island.
I only managed to pass this scenic city while on the Magic Bus returning from Paihia to Auckland. From what I saw, a great place to have some R&R !
Sending a card to someone at home?
by allikat about Passion for Paper
Passion for Paper is devoted entirely to the sending of cards, the writing of letters, the inviting to parties and the wrapping of gifts. You can find some really original cards and paper here, and some absolutely beautiful wrapping paper for that special gift you bought for someone back home, as well as leather bound address books and travel journals. I loved the writing pad with a map of the world colour washed onto the sheets.
Driving
by keeweechic
Getting around Auckland is fairly easy. Driving is on the left, the roads are in good conditions and streets are easily sign posted. The freeways (motorways) are not huge either as some overseas cities but they do get very congested during peak times so they are best avoided then. Parking can get fairly expensive in the city car parks.
Hugo's Frog Bar
by keeweechic
This informal wine bar is located on a busy corner in Newmarket. Along with wines, they also serve local brews, including Rangitoto Beer on tap and good food. Hugos is popular with the office crowd and shoppers and is a great spot for relaxing with a drink.
