Question about Airbus terminals

by onlyjonesy

This is the first of what will probably be MANY questions before my husband and I take our anniversary trip to the "Land of the Long White Cloud" in June. (Squeeee!)

If I take the Airbus from Auckland airport to Auckland CBD, and we stop off in MT Eden to do the climb/crater/view/photo opp thing...is there an area in the MT Eden Airbus terminal where I can store our luggage for a few hours? We have some time to kill between flight arrival and checking in to the hotel and I thought Mt Eden would be a relaxing (partly because it's free so no pressure to thoroughly enjoy oneself) chance to stretch our legs after the 22 hour flight.

Re: Question about Airbus terminals

by Steve51

The Airbus will stop at all marked stops on Mt Eden road, but there is no "Mt Eden Airbus terminal"...so nowhere to leave your bags.
I'm sure your hotel will store them for you until check-in time, and an early check-in may be possible

The Mt. Eden bus stop is a simple stop at the side of the road and nothing else. No place to leave your luggage anywhere.

You better take your luggage to the hotel, as Steve suggested, and then take a local bus or the train from Britomart to Mt. Eden Train Station which is not too far from the volcano.

Travel Tips for Auckland

Auckland City via Great Sights

by amarshah

One option to see the city's major attractions is via a conducted tour like Great Sights.. once you book they pick u up form your hotel and then we gather at their office just after Queens Street we board a bus and we off. The drivers are friendly, the busses are great and a/c is perfect along with th seats. The busses have wide talk windows so one can see outside better. I had visited Victoria park Market, mt Eden, War Memorial Museum & Kelly Tarltons withthem which we finished in the morning itself. One nice thing was at Kelly Tarltons there was a long line of people waiting to enter... we luckily walked past them as if we were VIP's. Visit them at www.greatsights.co.nz

The Piano - KareKare Beach

by Auckland_girl

If you were a fan of the scenery in the Jane Campion movie The Piano (with Holly Hunter) then head out to KareKare beach on Auckland's west coast. Its a beautiful spot, but the drive out can be a little hairy as some of the roads are gravel (not sealed).

Crystal Mountain Cafe

by keeweechic

Crystal Mountain has a café which serves brunches, lunches as well as Devonshire teas. If you have a group, you can organise a Churasco (a traditional Brazilian bbq).

Location: Crystal Mountain, 80 Candia Rd, Swanson,Waitakere, West Auckland

Ferry ride

by dragontml

A great way to get around Auckland Harbour and to visit the islands of the Hauraki Gulf. Apart from the advantage of getting away from the traffic you have a chance to enjoy the scenery. You never know, you may have the added pleasure of spotting a pod of dolphins !

Award winning pies in central Auckland

by SWFC_Fan about Pie Mania

Pie Mania is an award-winning pie shop in downtown Auckland.

It is located on Wellesley Street West, just a few minutes off the main city centre thoroughfare of Queen Street, and just a few minutes walk from Auckland Sky Tower.

The shop offers a staggering array of pies and was voted "Auckland's Best Pies" by Metro magazine. It also earned rave reviews from Lonely Planet.

I ate here one afternoon during my visit to the city in May 2006, sitting at the windowside table inside the shop. The majority of customers buy their pies to take away.

The vast choice of flavours includes:

Steak: steak, steak and kidney, steak and mushroom, steak and cheese;

Mince: savoury mince, mince and cheese, mince, cheese and bacon, mince potato top, mince and gourmet potato;

Chicken: chicken and vegetables, curry chicken, chicken, sweetcorn and cheese;

Assorted: minted lamb, bacon and egg, smoked fish;

International: Irish stew, Mediterranean lamb, Thai chilli beef, Mad Mexican, Tandoori, butter chicken, chicken and drunken mushroom;

Vegetarian: vegetable, chilli bean and cheese, spinach and feta cheese;

Fruit: spicy apple, apple and blueberry, apple and blackberry, apple and rhubarb, apricot, peach and passionfruit. I opted for:

Tandoori pie - Cost: 4.60 NZD

Excellent quality pieces of chicken in a mildly hot tandoori sauce. The pastry was flaky enough, but not so flaky as to fall apart and allow the filling to drip out. Great quality!! I was very impressed!

Excellent quality pies in downtown Auckland. Deserving of the awards that it has won. Highly recommended!!
