Sugar Loaf Camping: Laid back campsite near the beach
Sugar Loaf campsite is at the south end of Kaitoke beach, just north of Medlands beach. Between it and the beach is a lagoon that fills up with salt water at high tide and is great for splashing around in. The beach itself is beautiful and very quiet, there is a nice natural arch way if you walk northwards.
You can camp looking at the beach or under shady trees and you can light a fire in one of the many fire pits.
Its $10 per night, more than the DOC campsites but a hundred times nicer and more atmospheric.
Unique Quality: Fire pits, shaded, really near the beach, cold shower, long drop toilets, drinking water, NO LIQUOR BAN!! :)
