Weather
by keeweechic
Rotorua has a very moderate climate which is rarely too hot or too cold. Summer average temperature 18°C, winter 8°C. Because of the elevation (approx 290 metres above sea level), the sun during December-February can be quite strong, particularly between 10.00am and 3.00pm. You should make sure you use sunscreen and a hat.
Lots of flavors to choose from
by MLW20 about Lady Jane's Ice Cream Parlour
We stopped by Lady Janes but didn't get anything. They had lots of flavors to choose from and it looked really good.
They were closed many times when we walked by or else we would've definitely tried it.
Wai-O-Tapu El Geyser de las- 10h 45m - Geyser
by elpariente
Our concern was great because we could not understand how a geyser, the Lady Knox, would "woke up" every day at the same time 10h 45m.
We were punctual and there were many people in a kind of step around the gersey and just at the scheduled time it came a gentleman who told us a story and then put some soap on the Geyser, which made it turn alive and gradually reached a height of about 20 meters
The method is not very conventional, but it is impressive to see it, picking up high gradually, pouring water and steam
Buried Village
by Lozza_9
We didn't plan to visit the Village, we didn't know about it we spotted a sign and decided to have a look.
This is an amazing place, really strange walking through a village which was lived in but destroyed by the Tarawera Volcano which erupted.
They have also dug out some of the mud so you can see how much mud actually went into the village and the homes.
They have a lovely pathway which links the excavated sites and enjoy the unspoilt native bush.
Open everyday from 9am except Christmas Day.
Pictures to follow very soon
