Travel Tips for Rotorua

Rugby with the Waikato Chiefs

by MLW20

I wanted to see a rugby match so we rented a car and drove about an hour to see the Waikato Chiefs. The Chiefs play in the Super 12 Rugby league with teams from NZ, Australia and South Africa.

The game was fun but I didn't have much of an idea of the rules. It was fun to watch the people in the crowd screaming and wearing funky outfits.

Best breakfast in town

by BurgerQueen about Lime

If you feel like a delicious breakfast in a very nice place, my suggestion is called Lime Caffetteria.
This nice café is centrally located and serves home-made breakfasts and light lunches. Food is fresh and well prepared, the atmosphere friendly and relaxed. Home made waffle with fruits and yoghourt.

Take the Gondola up and speed down on the luge

by MLW20

Skyline gondola and luge is lots of fun for all ages. Take the gondola up to the top of Mt. Ngongotaha and then wait on a huge line to take one of three luge tracks down the mountain. The luge is like a toboggan on wheels. They move pretty fast on the track. A chairlift takes you back up to the top where you can get food at the cafe, check out the gift shop, try out the sky swing or go on a hike.

It's show time!

by tuff

We took up the Tamaki Living Maori Village experience for dinner entertainment It’s a journey back in time through the Maori village experience with tribal songs, dances and activities. Of course, it includes a dinner buffet. It’s like the luau in Hawaii, you want to experience it once.

Wairere Falls

by ATXtraveler

Located within the Te Wairoa Buried Village complex is one of the nicest falls we saw on our trip to the North Island, and it was Wairere Falls.

This set of falls is started by a small creek, but has quite a drop of about 30 meters, one in which a ten to fifteen minute walk is required from the museum that holds the information at Te Wairoa. Also, you will have to take a fairly steep walk back up the hill to the village, so be prepared for some heaving breaths.

I guess you could call that a breath taking waterfall then!
