Novotel Royal Lakeside Rotorua: Not the Most Friendly

Spent two days at this very well located hotel. Room was very nice, but staff left alot to be desired and the restaurant staff was the worst. I am not sure if this is supposed to be the best hotel here but I sure didn't feel overwhelmened by the service. But to be fair GREAT location and nice rooms, but when you pay a high price you expect high marks for service and that did not happen here.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Lakeside Novotel. We walked from the bus station (city centre) to the hotel in under 10 minutes. The location was really nice and close to the lake.
When we arrived we were a bit early but allowed to check in right away. The room was clean and a decent size.
The staff was friendly and very helpful. We used the concierge desk quite a bit to get some good ideas on how to use our time in Rotorua.
The hotel has a Maori culture center with nightly dinner & shows. It was pretty good but did not seem all too authentic.
There is also a spa, fitness area and indoor heated pool that is like a geothermal bath. We didn't use any of these services but the spa area looked very nice.
