Hahei Holiday Resort: Not the best site we stayed in

This was an independent site, all the other sites we'd stayed in were Top 10 sites and it wasn't as good as the Top 10 sites.

We were able to opt for a normal pitch or a sea view pitch and so we paid a bit extra and went for the sea view one, however, as it turned out, the shower block near the sea view pitches was closed for winter and only the main block was open so we'd paid a premium and ended up having to walk half way across the site in the rain, so I wasn't very happy about that.

The shower block was dark, dingy and unwelcoming and none of us really fancied having a shower in there. I was going to use the laundry but it looked like work was being done on some of the machines so I didn't chance it (didn't want to lose my money on a machine that wasn't working) and we were also going to have a BBQ but the pits were filthy and weren't sheltered so we didn't bother with that either.

The view from the pitch we'd chosen was the best thing about the site and we were glad we'd only paid for one night. I'm sure it's great in summer when everything is open and working but they shouldn't really take people's money if they're not going to provide a decent service or they should charge lower rates during off-season - it's a rip off to pay the same as any other time of year when not everything is working or open.

A disappointment.
